Sounds like the Vert would be the right choice for you...you can have the best of both world.Good performance and open air motoring.

The Z06 is a more intense driving experiance.

Im not saying dont ask, thats great that your doing your research, but a Vert to Coupe comparison makes more sense. The Z06 is a "race" ready Vette so I would say get the Vert and then if you decide later its not for you gt a Z.

5 vettes, Lotus Esprit turbo, 2 benz, 1 Bmw. I guess I am not a true sports car person. Maybe some day I will grow up and be a "true sports car person and own a ZO6!

Maybe you should grace the forum members with your infinate wisdom and tell us just what a sports car enthusiast is. Seems like the definition of the term would be someone who is enthused about sports cars. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, just about covers every member of this forum.

I have a 03 vert M8 and love it. Had a H/C swap and I am running 435rwhp so now I have the best of both worlds. I know it doesnt handle like a Z but I dont take it to the track.

Rather than driving yourself crazy trying to make a decision, just do what I did. . . .

Wow, so only Z06 owners enjoy sports cars? I'm not sold on the idea that every vert just 'cruises and is slow' and every Z06 races and is faster.

It's much easier to add 55hp to a vert and equal the Z06 (ok, add a couple hours to up the suspension too), thus having the best of both...

Z51 coupe/vert cars are very close to Z06 suspension specs, have better seats, plus vert owners "just have more fun."

So much tension between Vette brothers! What gives? While I dont share the opinion that the Z is the only true soorts car of the three (they are all three great cars!), they are very different. I have only owned the Z but have driven a coupe and can tell you that stock for stock there is a BIG difference in the way they drive. suspension, tranny, power...all big things. If you want to be able to put the top down, and that is imprtant to you, then get the vert. If you want to go fast...er, and handle like a dream, get the Z. If you want both, then get the vert and mod the crap out of it! Either way you can smile because your driving a Vette...dont forget to wave!

It's almost like that "Z51" stuff on the C6 boards. They seem to think only a Z51 optioned vette is a "true" vette. Get a life. Any corvette is a sports car, and any vette of recent vintage, including a base-suspension vert, will outrun and outhandle 99% of the cars on the road.

I have driven in everything but a vert. There is a big difference between the Z06 and the other cars, at least from the factory. They are all sports cars though, just packaged different for different tastes. I would highly recommend taking a test drive of both cars to see which you like better.

Either way you can't go wrong, as they are both vettes!!

Love The Vert! And they have the thinner windshield too.
