There are alot of Verts on this site that will do donuts around a stock Z06......... the uniqueness of the Z06 is cool....but it can be replicated in performance by any C5..vert or otherwise.... just need a few $$$$$.`

His car will always be a Z and mine will not...that's cool. Mine is also not a LPE version...... or a 50th Anniv edition...that's also cool. I would love to have one of everything...I'm a Vette Fan.

That's my beater. If I want to go fast, I drive my 2 door Chevy.

I'm thinking of trading it in on something like a G35.

Funny how a bunch of Z06 owners think verts aren't fast and aren't driven fast. I know what a Z has to offer. But, c'mon. Are all Z's being tracked, using that extra nth degree better in performance? Are all vert drivers just toodling around town, shades on, 10 mph below speed limit? I figure part of the marketing of the C5Z is to make you feel like there is a superiority, but let's be honest, not everyone is 100% of the time driving any of these models 100% of what they are capable of stock. I do appreciate seeing those responses though...this is an entertaining forum.

Don't know if I would call any of this as "in-fighting"............ just voicing opinions.

PS: If your experience was a Sebring I understand your historical viewpoint. Just to let you know...Corvettes with the top down are one of the quietest Verts around........You can actually hear the stereo better with the top down as with the top up..... Quieter tires and Corsa make it pleasant to drive. Hardtops do have advantages!.....I just like options.....

Now I am honestly intrigued about getting a ride in a C5 or C6 Vert! Never hurts to try new things.

Here's the formula and cost.

Used Z06 springs $400
Used Z06 sway bars $250
Bilstein Shocks $300
Tunnel plate $100
Small cam, springs/etc $750
Install the above and tune $2000

Total Cost Approximately $4,000

Will you have the cachet of a Z06? NO! You will have a car that will out-perform a Z06. The Z06 and couple are not structurally stronger than a vert. The C5 was originally designed as a convertible. A Z06 or coupe will allow you do do some track events without a roll bar that you would need in a convertible.

For my car I went a little farther.

haha, Unreal. I ran into a similar problem with a fellow vette brother...He has an 01 z06 w/60k+ miles...Myself a built 98 vert w/36k on it now...Bought it w/ 30k. He was talking to some mutual friends and mentioned that I wouldn't know b/c I didn't spend the extra cash and buy a z06....

It's funny to me b/c he mentioned to me what he paid for his....I paid more for mine. Convertibles and z06's don't drop much in price. Plus mine had half the miles and built. It kind of bugged me a little bit when I found out. I'm over it. He can think his z is better. I know the truth
