From: Marlton. Increasing performance one speeding ticket at a time! NJ
Active handling is a system that uses traction control, throttle, and brakes to supposedly keep the car pointed in the direction of the steering wheel. Without AH on, it is pretty easy to spin the car. How do you know it works? Try doing doughnuts with it on and off and you'll see pretty quickly if it is working
If you push the button and hold for 5-10sec, it will enter competitive driving mode, where only traction control is turned off. Nice for spirited driving where you want to smoke the tires, but still regain some sense of stability.
The 3 position **** is for the selective ride control. It changes the damping of the shocks. Tour is the softest, performance is the hardest. Find the ride quality that you like for daily driving.
yes they work...
take the car out on a wet day into a wide open ( no light poles) empty parking lot and play ....
i.e. try the car in all three modes
on, t/c,a/c off and competition mode.
See the differences in wheel spin under heavy acceleration and in cornering.....
you can feel the a/c modulating the abs system and cutting the throttle.

AH works a treat and its saved me on at least one occasion.
The ride control on the 02 is a waste of time. I've tried it under most conditions and it really makes no difference at all. I'm told the 03 onwards with the mag ride control improved things a lot.
Turn T/C on and try to do a burnout.

You should not be able to spin your tires with T/C on.
Active Handling is a bit harder to tell unless you are driving aggressively or on a slippery road. Try to get the car "out of shape" where the rear end wants to step out. AH should try to apply brakes to keep you in line. You can tell on the track. In early C5s, AH can sometimes back off engine power to help keep you from getting out of control.
For selective ride, find a bumpy road (wash board or one with lots of cracks) and try the different settings. You should be able to tell the difference in ride.
