Gas stations ??

Gas stations ??
So hears a question i haven't seen on the forum. Do you go to a name brand gas station to buy your Premium gas, or do you go the station that sells premium at the cheapest price. Some store give a 10 cent discount per gallon after you spend so much money in there store. Is all premium the same no matter were you get it? Has anyone had any problems when buying cheaper premium gas from a no name station?

Hi tigerm49 -
I try to always use a top tier gasoline - so no, unless I am forced to by locale on a long trip, I always use Phillips 66 or Shell.
BP Amoco is no longer a top tier fuel, I have learned.

I have had probelms using cheap fuel on my wife's trailblazer....
major hesitation... It was ucred after 2 tankfuls s of Seafoam @
$7.50/can So that's $15. that would have bought me 150 gallons of better quality gas and I would not have had the hesitation that almost twice led to an accident, when i pulled out and the guy I pulled in front off got too close for comfort because i could not accelerate.
Most raw gas is the same, what differentiates gasoline is the quality of the detergency package and how much is added.
Cheap gas cuts corners and adds only the minimum required by law and may use older generation technology in order to reduce cost and make the same profit at a lower selling price.
No more cheap gas in any of my vehicles. top tier gasoline only.
Shell V-Power is my preferred gasoline at 93 octane.
If it is really hot [like next weekend is expected to be (~95)] and I'm auto-crossing, I will use Sunoco 94 Octane.

When I was in vegas I used AAFES or Costco
Never a problem. Always a few cents cheaper and only one bottle of techron in my 4 years there.

I pretty much always go to Chevron or Texaco in my vette. It might cost 5-10 cents more a gallon, but I would rather pay it and know my engine is benefiting from it.
My beater car I dont care.. of course I dont drive it that much anyway.

I always go to Chevron, and make sure it's a busy one that won't have stale, old or contaminated fuel in it's tanks...
One time I filled up at a 76 and that was cause I was running on fumes going into the second half of a lapping day and there wasn't a Chevron any where near...

That's true Dave, but just look at the condition of your tire pressure sensor. Around here there is only about $.04 a gallon to be saved shopping for "economy" gas. That's a savings of about $.60 a top off. Shell or Texaco for our cars.

And from what we learned in here this week. Possibly helping to keep the siphon pump in the right fuel tank flowing correctly. That article (post) made better sense to me than the gauge sending unit scenario.

A friend of mine worked at Southwest Research, who do testing on fuels/oils/additives. Their conclusion was that the best additive was Techron. This friend uses cheap gas and uses the additives every few months. I use only top tier gas and add Techron as he did. Never had a problem. A clean engine is a good engine!

Other factors to consider .... never fuel your car when a tanker is filling the service stations tanks. It stirs the sediment up in their tanks and becomes a potential contamination issue in your auto's tank and filters.
I only use top tier fuel ... I avoid using Texaco because of their higher sulfur content in their fuel here in the southwest. When I stopped using Texaco my fuel gage issues went away.

I buy it where it is the cheapest....NFW that gas at Shell for 15cents more a gallon is better than the gas at the Race Trac or Rally or Citgo ......no pinging in the 07 Z06 the SC 99 or the 02...add some Redline S-1 every now and again....
worst gas I ever got was at a Exxon/Mobil station....every time I filled up the damn car would ping like a beotch

I use gas from a local chain here - never had a problem. Not sure where they get their's from, but I'm guessing MFA oil.

I use 93 octane from a local retailer here in VA, Liberty. No problems in all my cars. I do throw Techron in the Corvette every three months, my old dependable 10 mpg F-250 4X4, well uh, you can urinate in the gas tank, IT JUST DOESN'T CARE, IT WILL GOBBLE UP ANYTHING YOU THROW THROUGH IT'S INJECTORS!!!! Might I add, with a huge SUCKING NOISE!!!
