I always go to Shell! I have never had any problems and they are a top tier gas. Don't short yourself on gas, the extra couple bucks are worth it to keep your engine clean.

Reason: spelling errors
I was surprised to see that Exxon was not on the list of top tier gasolines. We don't have a lot of major gasolines here in the mountains of Pa. I normally use Exxon and have not had any problems.
I use Conoco and Phillips, locally. When I'm on a trip I'll try and find a Shell or Chevron. Only tier 1 gas for my cars, including the two that have carbs. instead of fuel injection.
I ran a Gulf Service Staion for 21 years in the 50's to 70's.
Back then Gulf made the gas and delivered it to there stations in there own trucks.
Now almost all gas is delivered by independent trucking firms.
There is now way to know what refinery it came out of.
So you can go to a major company and get different fuel at any given time.
If say Mobil Exxon's refinery is down there stations don't go dry they just get it from another supplier and so do the other majors.
It's possible sometimes to get better fuel at the independents than the majors
I use Chevron about 75% of the time, any time Chevron isn't convenient I look for a Shell, Exxon or other reputable name. I've never had any fuel gage, knocking or other issues, and I've never had to do a Seafoam treatment (though I did have the dealer to a top-end cleaning procedure right when I bought the car about 12K miles ago).
I see that QT is on the list. I have one just around the block, they used to sell 93 now it's down to 91. Then I started buying gas at Sam's Club, 93 octane, but I have no idea who they buy their gas from.
So....... now I guess I'll stick to Shell. I can remember Sunoco gas, when I was a teenager that's all I would use in my 327 Nova. I can also remember the purple gas, I think it was 96 octane. They have moved out of St. Louis many years ago, what a shame. David
Other factors to consider .... never fuel your car when a tanker is filling the service stations tanks. It stirs the sediment up in their tanks and becomes a potential contamination issue in your auto's tank and filters.
Good point! I was going to post that, but you beat me to it! Learned that tip many years ago. If I see a tanker at a gas station, I avoid it and find another! A Chevron, Shell, or 76 Union I might add!
I tell you what! ! I have run all kind of gas in my truck! ! ! And always have knocking, I put Shell yesterday on the truck and the knock went away almost immidiatly!
Chevron Premium. I see now that Shell is advertising Techron in their fuel, here on the west coast. If you can't beat them, join them.
Once in awhile I put in a few gallons of 101 octaine Trick Racing gas. It is very expensive now. The last time I did it was 4.25 a gal. Now I here it's over $5.00 a gal. May have to do without that for awhile.

It takes about 48 hours for all the sediment to settle to the bottom of the tank after the truck leaves. I believe the water goes to the bottom a little quicker. So, if you see a tanker at your dealer, wait a couple of days before filling up at that station.

That's pretty hard to do if you buy at a high volume station as they do a tanker a day!
