It is a nit on such a great car, but I hate climbing back in my c5 vert to put the windows up after I put the top up. Is the Window Valet worth the $150? Any issues with the battery in the car going dead due to the "Accessory without key" feature of this part? Any warranty issues?
YES it is worth it....especially for a vert. I use it ALL the time. Besides putting the windows up/down, I LOVE turning on my radio from the FOB. It is great when you are walking up to your car in a parking alot, "click" "click" "click"....windows go down, and then I have mine set to fire up the radio. Fun stuff. I've had no battery issues since installing the Valet
I bought mine on a group purchase, and lumped it in with a set of new tires so I wouldn't feel so bad about the spending.
One of my favorite excuses for having it is that if I'm somewhere, like a party or restaurant, and leave the windows down, and it starts raining, I can raise the windows without running out and dodging raindrops!
The windows up/down feature is great for showing off. My father asked me if I could find one for his truck... it's got manual windows!
I've owned a white 84 and and currently a White 98.It's a color you do not see a lot of. Even though the first corvette was white and the last C4 was white.
Something else that you get that can save your paint (not to mention the ease of getting in the car) is the ability to roll the windows down before you enter the car. When you are parked and you have a car on either side of your car it is difficult to get the door open and get in for you or your passenger without pushing the door out and touching the other car (a paint chipping opportunity). I don't care if you are parked well and the other car is parked well, the vette door is long and it is hard to get in (and no, I am not a big guy). With the windows rolled down this is MUCH easier.
This is the $150 reason why I will be adding one to my vette. Semper Fi.
This is the #1 reason I bought one for my coupe -- in fact, I used this feature just yesterday, when I had to park in a narrow spot in my office garage. I like/use it so much, it was literally the first mod ordered for my new 'vert.
I have one of these and have yet to set it up. I went to pick up some free wheels from forum member AlmondTed, and he gave me the window valet also I am going to set it up this weekend!
Many uses for it. If you race and have an enclosed trailer where you can't open the doors, crawl out the window and roll up the windows. I recently got mine out of the body shop and the window valet was left out, it was such a pain to put the top up, after the locks were latched I had to crawl back in the car to roll the windows up, I couldn't roll them up as I was leaving the car. Glad I got it back or else I would have bought another one.
I have a Coupe, My garage has 2 cars inside, My Vette pulls forward on the left side, I leave the windows down when I pull in It makes it super easy to exit and enter the car... Thats why I have it. and LOVE it
I think they have an automatic start function, but both of mine are six speeds. So I assume they don't work??
No auto start. Mostly, windows up/down and accessory power from the key fob. I like the accessory power in that I can get out of the car and a passenger can listen to the radio when I'm out (it will turn off after 15 minutes and I think its user settable to less). Not that I use it much, but it also will record top speed between resets.
If you've ever had someone park too close and about took your own head off trying to get into the car, the window valet will pay for itself just for that.
