I use the parking brake on every vehicle I drive. It is the correct way to park. Now, the brake in the vette doesn't always hold, but that is why it is in R when I park it in addition to the parking brake.
If for no other reason, you should engage the parking brake 2 or 3 times a month to keep the cable from corroding tight in the cable housing from non-use. If it does, and at some later time you definitely need to use the p-brake, it willl come on but won't release, which could cause you a wee bit of distress and $$.

Use the ER brake only on an uneven (steep) place. Why? To relieve the pressure being put on the tranny. So, I pull the brake 1st, and then put it in P.

Nope. Living on the Texas gulf coast you don't park on many hills. Even when on road trips...putting the transmission in "park" is all I have ever used in the past.
I use it at all times in all my vehicles. If you knew how small the Park latch was inside the transmission you would too. Holding a 3000# + car with a 1/4" X 1/4" X 1/8" piece of metal is spooky! Also, if you ever get bumped in a parking lot, besides the body damage you could be looking at a transmission teardown.
