When I changed my brake pads and painted the calipers I removed the rear rotors and adjusted the star wheels. Works fine now but GM doesn't even call it an EMERGENCY BRAKE just a PARKING BRAKE.
The dealer lied to me and said that it was adjusted as good as it could be. BS. !!! Now it will actually STOP the car. BIGHANK
I use it at all times in all my vehicles. If you knew how small the Park latch was inside the transmission you would too. Holding a 3000# + car with a 1/4" X 1/4" X 1/8" piece of metal is spooky! Also, if you ever get bumped in a parking lot, besides the body damage you could be looking at a transmission teardown.
I always use the E brake. I've seen the 1/4" metal "Park" pins in an auto trans shear off when nudged by another car in a parking lot. You may return to your car someday and discover it in someone's living room down the road.
