Default Good Question !

I don't know. I don't like to have mine out in the snow, ice and salt. So from the end of December to the end of March they sit. However, I don't drive all that much when I do drive, so it's a very good question. I have no answer other than the level of traffic congestion around here is getting worse, which tends to keep the cars in the garage.

I drive mine so much that I don't have time to wash them. The only time mine sit in the garage is for fun parts.

I had the '99 Vette and a Honda for daily driving. 9/11 came along and I desided life was to short. Sold the Honda put the Vette into action as my daily driver. 103k miles of smiles and no regrets.

Dunno why, but I can't stomach my car being in the rain or salt/snow.

Hell, I don't like leaving it in the hot sun for that matter.

But I'm ok with that, my car stays nice and clean and in mint condition.

Am I crazy - yes.

I bought my car back in March of this year and put less than 200 miles on it

I bought my 98 new in Arizona and racked up a few miles. Since moving to Iowa 6 years ago it's become a garage queen by default for 5 months of the year. 23,000 miles. I'm thinking that I need to move back so I can drive year round.

I've had the car less than a month and have put nearly 2k miles on it so I'm not the one to ask I don't think.

For me, I drive it all the time and clean it all the time. If you are cleaning and maintaining it constantly, it doesn't matter how many miles it has on the clock. If it looks great it will always command a good resale price.

Anyone got a sound reason for this??

Can't speak for others, but I need mine to last. I'm nearing retirement and I won't be buying a replacement for mine for quite awhile. I don't want to put a bunch of miles on it stuck in rush-hour traffic. I want my miles to be put on doing nice drives that I enjoy. Hell, you can ride in a Hyundai when you're stopped in traffic. What's the difference?

For me I often need more than two seats, family of four

I also am careful about were I leave it parked, so the movies on a Saturday night we take the truck. I've heard to many horror storys about Vetts being vandalized.

Other than that I shouls drive it more, although I am aneat freak about the car

I drive mine everyday and every chance I get. I don't care about how many miles i put on it because this is a love affair between ME and my VETTE. I honestly don't understand why people have vettes as garage queens, these cars are built to driven. Whenever I get ready to trade this car in, it will be for a newer vette so the trade in value on my car means nothing to me. That said, I will not drive it in any sort of snow, but it doesn't snow in Atlanta

I bought my 2000 vert in April 2006 with 10k on it (yes, the original owner wanted a garage queen!). This week it turned 30k, so I do believe in driving it, I feel that is the best way to enjoy it. I also can't stand to drive it dirty, so if I'm not in it, I'm cleaning it! I've grown to enjoy cleaning it so much I'm going to start a detailing business!

They are a "thing of beauty" to admire but, there a hell of a lot more fun to drive.

Do what you want with yours, but I don't understand the reasoning behind garage queens... "look, I have this whoop-a$$ car - but it's never going to leave the garage cause I am afraid if I drive it I might hit a bug! "

I just washed mine for the first time in a month (it's driven daily, even in the rain/mud/snow) and while I enjoy it clean, there is no way I am going to sacrifice seat time for clean time...

Go for the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (All season) ZP (zero pressure or runflats). I put them on mine when the OEM GYs wore out. The ZPs are great in dry and wet, and even rated for snow. We didn't get much snow here (I used to live in Bettendorf, IA so I know what you mean) but the GYs with almost new tread felt like i was driving a toboggan in 1/16" of snow. Try some new Michelin PSs and see if you can use the car except for the occasional blizzard. BIGHANK

I don't criticize garage queen owners, not at all. Everyone owns theirs for different reasons and draws pleasure from different aspects of ownership.

I suspect that some folks draw as much pleasure from the act of ownership as they do from driving. "I have a xxxx-mile Vette waiting for me in the garage". If it was a xxxxx-mile, or (horrors!) xxxxxxx-mile Vette, it wouldn't be as pleasureable. And that's fine! To each their own. I bless garage queen owners, as they ensure I will always be able to find a pristine car to buy.

I bought mine in April '06 with 864 miles on her. Sometime today I will turn over 35,000. I like to drive

The way I look at it is this: when it comes to life, it's ALL going to be 100% depreciated at the end. The only thing you can take with you is memories. And there are no memories in a garage. If I were to forego driving my car as much as I do, I'd get a few more thousand at sale time. But look what I would have given up: all those memories. I'll trade a few thousand bucks for tens of thousands of miles of Vette memories in a hearbeat.

But that's just me. To each their own! But for those of you stuck beside me in the traffic jam, you in your Hyundai and me in my Vette, well, even at 5 mph I think I'm coming out ahead.
