Not sure what your intentions are, but I bought myself a Garmin Nuvi 350, so I would have GPS and Bluetooth for my phone. It's really nice, and automatically uploads your contacts from the phone when it connects. It also supports voice commands. It's also nice to have the MP3 function, going right into the stereo. Food for thought perhaps.
I goto school in DC and theres the same law there, I dont have one in the car but I have the headset and it works pretty good, it kind of hurts my ear when I have my sunglasses on and have it in for a while though

I am in need of a gps upgrade. Something to think about! The mp3 function is fm modulated, not hardwired yes?

No, not FM modulated. Right now I just have a cassette adapter to mini stereo plug. When ever I do the guage bezel mod and have the dash apart, I'll wire it directly to the stereo. The great part is, when you have an incoming call, the music stops automatically. When the call is done, music resumes. Same thing happens when it's announcing directions. Very
About 2 months ago I bought a Scosche CBHV Bluetooth speakerphone ($60 @ Best Buy). It has a visor clip that works fine on the C5. I am happy with the sound quality. It supports voice dialing if your phone has that capability. The only thing I did not like was a couple of websites showed it was charged via usb. It is not. It comes with a traditional style DC cigarette lighter charger.

What phone & carrier do you have?
Transferring contacts to any given bluetooth device will depend on the phone/carrier that you have.
I have a Nuvi 660 (can't remember exact number) that has the bluetooth & such. My phone will not transfer contacts to the garmin. That's because I have Verizon and they don't allow it (proprietary chit).

Do you use the bluetooth on the Nuvi? If so what are your thoughts as I am on the fence on what Nuvi to buy

I put an Alpine HU in my Wife's C5 coupe with the Alpine Bluetooth adapter. Pretty cool operation. When she gets in the car and starts it her phone connects to the Stereo. If she is playing radio, CD or Ipod when a call comes in it stops the music and all she has to do is hit a button on the dash to answer it. The only problem I see with it is the caller gets feedback on their end. In other words you hear what you just said. Have to play around with it and see if I can resolve it. Other then that she loves it...

It depends on what unit you buy. I have a Nuvi 660 and it is FM modulated.
I've only owned the Nuvi for a couple months and haven't played around with it too much.... The area where I live - I can't find a clear FM channel that's good enough to use with the garmin. Each and every channel has some faint signal to it and the garmin FM modulation just hasn't worked effectively for me. We've tried every channel without any good results.
I just have it set to play the phone calls out of the speakers on the garmin. I don't use the mp3 player.

Steven, look at the 660. I have that one and have used the bluetooth in my truck. Pretty slick operation.... Using the FM modulator the call goes through the stereo speakers and the mic in in the Garmin.

Again, we haven't played with it much...... (nobody ever calls me )
laugh...
It's pretty slick and much better than fumbling with the phone. Even when someone does call me - I could never hear the phone cuz its in my purse.
Anyway.... My husband called me from his bluetooth system in his Acura and it was pretty cool. The only thing we noticed - was the signal was 'better' when my truck was sitting still in a parking lot. Once you started moving - the signal would kinda get choppy. I'm not sure if that was due to the bluetooth setups on both ends.....?? Not sure.
Right now - I gotta research on the garmin site about the *recognizing* the phone when its in the vehicle. It doesn't always pick it up when its in the car. When it does recognize it (and this is automaticly done) - it drops off frequently.

I also have Verizon, and am using the Razor. It transfers my contacts automatically.

What did you transfer them to? A Garmin Nuvi?
I talked to a Verizon sales guy and he did mention about a couple higher end phones that allow phone-book-transfer but I'm not sure it would do it for other items (non-verizon items such as GPS's etc).
I didn't get the details but he also mentioned that Verizon makes extra money offering a service to transfer the stuff for you. What a joke.

Yes, a Garmin Nuvi 350.
So far, (about three different phones) any phone with bluetooth that I have "found" on the Garmin, has uploaded it's phone contacts.
