OK. I am fed up with GM forcing you to choose between listening to your radio AND the door chime, or running the fuel pump and listening to your music.
I happen to like to listen to my CD's with the doors open while cleaning the car or for what other reason may present itself. But that dinging is grating my last nerve.
So does anyone know which fuse, relay or wire that I can cut or yank out to stop this insanity?
Thanks
The Window Valet has a mode that allows the radio to play with the doors open and no ding. Also if you have the key on ACC to play the radio the fuel pump does not run.

On the first acc there is nothing running, but you have the chime. On the second acc. You can hear the fans and the fuel pump running.
Tell me more abou this window valet. What is it and how does it work?
Thanks

Lots of other features as well. Like top speed recording, windows up/down with remote (hence window valet)...etc.
I found mine here. http://www.topdowntech.com/media.html

I have that mode inhibited at the minute. Does it work with the door open and no chimes?

I knew the valet would allow the radio to work, I just assumed the chime would still be in effect. I'll have to check mine.
I can turn the key to the first ACC position and I get the radio to work. Radio, windows work that's it. Second ACC postion, all the other components are energized, including the 'ding'. I don't have the chime on the first ACC position.
If the key is not in the ignition, the chime won't sound. So, operating the radio via the valet with the door open will not sound the chime.
Of course you're right, how stupid of me.
Is there a way to make the default longer than 15 minutes?
I've just never bothered with the rap part of the valet, but if you could make it longer the 15 minutes, that would be nice.

The choices are 30 seconds, 5 minutes or 15 minutes. 15 minutes is the default setting. There doesn't appear to be any way to make the timeout any longer.

the timeout is adjustable, I'm not sure what the upper limit is.
if I'm outside the car I turn on the ignition through the window to get the radio going then remove the key but don't open the door. with the windows down and the top off you can hear it just fine.

I just tried this in my 02 and it dings in the ACC position with radio on and door open.

Anyone know if it works OK with an aftermarket HU? I have an AVIC X1 with a Soundgate hookup.
I have a D3 and powered it from the taped wire bundle at the upper left corner of the passenger foot well (yellow wire) and this gives power with the key in the 1st ACC position of the ignition (no fans or chimes)
