hi, I am looking in buying a used 2002 Z06 and I was wondering how much millage you can realistically put on these cars before you get problems ? The one I am looking at as 97,000 miles on it.
I hate to say but it is a hard question, it really depends on the owner and maintenance, there are a lot of guys on here that have cars over 200K with very little problems. I would inspect the car very well and ask to see maintenance records. Sorry I could not help more.
My 01 had 69 k when I bought it and now up to 77k. I had looked at an 02 that had 120k on it and seemed to drive fine.
I had no problem buying mine because it had through maint. records from the two previous owners. If you can confirm the maint. and the car drives good and the price is right I would buy it with that mileage.
Just as an FYI...I paid 21k for mine in 8/06 if that helps you with pricing.

As mentioned it all depends on usage & especially the maintenance. You can not assume he did his oil changes. You can not take his word if you do not know him personally before hand. You need reciepts (or, as mentioned, someone that you know).
Make sure he has a new clutch in there and if not, price accordingly as it will need a clutch soon and those are very pricy on these cars.
These cars seem to be bullet proof. Very modular and easy to replace components. I would say that the fact I have not blown up this car is a testament has to how well there are built. No question 100K plus before you might see problems. Taking care of the car is paramount. Good Luck and get the deal.

Not necissarily. Mine now has 120k on the original clutch and it shows no signs of being worn out at all. The car is solid. Switch off the odometer, forget about it and drive the wheels off. Change the oil and garage it to protect the paint and interior and it will last as well as anything else.
My '01 has 115,000 miles. No major issues, just typical 'nickel and dime' maintenance stuff (plug wires, belt tensioner, tie rod end, etc.).
My clutch was fine at 110,000--until I added a cam and other mods for over 430 RWHP.
There are C5's out there with as much as 200,000 miles with no serious problems. I don't have anywhere near that, but my '03 Z has 52,000 and drives like new.
