does any one use sunoco race gas its 100 octane fuel of nascar its 495 a gal thought it might be a good treat for my z can it hurt or help it out its cool and blue any problems with using it once in a while like just before a race on quater mi run any do,s or donts in using this gas in my z06 i did just have the car tuned will the gas screw it up or help it out thanks ski
More octane won't help unless you have pre-detonation (pinging). You will make the most power with the lowest octane you can run without pinging. Octane is just resistance to burning.
You need more timing, compression, boost, or NAWS to benefit. Try 89.

the only thing that i have noticed is that my car runs much smoother, other than that it doesn't feel any faster
It's highly likely that it is actually making less power. Most people think putting race gas in the tank makes the vehicle faster. The fact of the matter is, the vehicle is engineered and tuned to run on premium pump gas. Running the higher octane race fuels would require a highly modified engine as well as being tuned for it in order to gain anything.
Furthermore, there are race gasses out there that make more power with less octane (oxygenated fuels, etc). I'd look into that instead. Octane does not equal power.

Very true, but watch the manufacture dates. If there is no date, dont get it. Oxyginated race fuels make great power if there are used with in a week or two of distlation.
A stock Z06 will lose 0.10-0.20 in ET running unleaded race gas.
I found that out personally and verified it in a second test.
In my C5Zs I tried to run with a quarter to three-eights of a tank of fuel.
But if I ran a lot of passes, the fuel would drop into the low-fuel mode. That's bad because on strong shifts, particularly on DRs, the fuel pick-up can starve and kill power to the motor.
So, on two occasions when faced with that, I added a couple gallons of the lowest octane unleaded fuel sold at Maryland Int'l Raceway, 104.
Back in the lanes, my subsequent passes were down .10-.20.
On the first occasion, this was on the heals of 8 consecutive passes within .05 seconds. So it wasn't the conditions or driving that changed.
From that point on I started running with around a half-tank and carrying a fuel can filled with my then usual Amoco Ultra 93.
well i guess that settels it no bennies running that stuff ill just use 93 oct and ill try a tank of 89oct and see what happens thanks every one for the pro help ski
