Default 01 vs. 02-04 Differences???

Hello everyone I have a 01 Z06 and I was wondering what the exact differnces are between the 01 and 02-04. I know the 01 has 20 less HP, but I would like to know what specific parts the 02-04 has that makes this differnce and what I whether or not I can purchase these parts to make mine 405hp as well.

thanks.

the 01 is the original the rest are simply copies...and we have the coolest emblems...no need to brag about HP here!

As an owner of an `02 I believe too much is made of the 20HP increase.I dont think it makes that much difference in everyday real world driving.Ofcourse that magical 400hp mark makes it seem like more.

Point is the `01s are slept on somewhat...great car, great bang for the buck these days.

My friend has an `01 Z and he has blown away a couple of C6 coupes...not by a little bit.He even missed a shift one time and still won comfortably.

Just my experiance..

Default not much difference

Read this article http://www.idavette.net/hib/02ls6/listpages.htm Then you'll see some minor refinements like removing the pup cats and adding sodium filler valves with the new cam . The air filter box has a larger opening and the MAF has the screen removed. Now for '02 turning off the TCS will reduce wheel hop by reducing the fuel/ spark curve slightly during hard launches. HUD was not available on the '01.
I love my '01 and have altered the car with some of the '02 features i.e. new CATs, '02 air box, smooth bridge and coupling, ect. I don't much care for HUD.

What do you mean by removing the pup cats? what are pup cats? if I replace my CATs will that remove the pup cats? what brand of cats would you recomend and how much will it cost for install? Finally will it mess my car up in any way i.e. check engine light, stalling etc?

Check out the FAQ section above. Post numbers 4-5 should give you a good start.

You have two extra converters on your car. This chaged in 02 as well. I would think you could change over to the 02-04 stuff without any issues or just replace the pup cats with pipe, and use high flow random technologies conveters as replacements for the ones remaining. You will need a good exhaust shop. Not sure if this cost is worth the few extra ponies!
