Well, I was lucky enough to get one of the 25 pieces this week. My honest feelings about it are that I'm mildly disappointed in it. I don't mean this as slam to the manufacturer or an insult to anyone's taste here. Obviously I like the look of it from the pics posted here because I bought it, but I had thought it would be more "substantial" than it is. I thought it would be made of material that was more solid and rigid, rather than the flimsy, flexible plastic material. I guess it'll mount on the car well and hold up and will probably look good once it's painted, but I'm not as excited about it as I was when I ordered it. It's still Winter in Upstate New York, so I have awhile before I can mount it on the car given that the temp needs to be a whole lot warmer, but at this point I'm not 100% sure I'll keep it. Again, no insult intended to anyone and I appreciate the work to have it available to us at a reasonable price, but.....maybe I was expecting too much for $250?

..I dont think you were expecting too much...just something different..
Truthfully I was a little amazed at the weight and thickness of the material...when I bought my first spoiler for Jami's C6...
After installing myself on her's, I was amazed that it was soooo solid!
Tim Burke (my paint and body expert) saw it and inspected it and the expert...approved!!! ...and after the install it is very solid and is very rigid after the install...
amazingly perfect for the purpose made...
I am very satisfied in the seemingly unsubstantial looking mini spoiler...

I think you're right about just expecting something different. I guess in reality if it were made of material that's stronger it would be heavier and would need to be attached to the car with bolts and I don't want to do that anyway! I went out this morning and laid it on the car and held it with some tape while I stepped back and looked at it. It sure does look nice on the car and will most likely be just what I want when it's painted and on the car for real. Did you use the body caulk suggested in the directions? It sounds like it's not really necessary. I'm going to plan on keeping it and will look forward to Spring when I can get the car back out of hibernation! Thanks again for organizing, Stu!
Just got mine back from being painted at the local chevy dealership. I figured that they should be able to match Anniv. Red, so thats why I took it there. They did a perfect job, color match was right on, charged me 140 bucks. Now if it ever warms up here in Buffalo Ill put it on the car and post some pics.

...thanks...
...actually the caulking idea is for molding into the rear fascia so that the spoiler looks seemless...
however...I think the spoiler looks great as is! ...I think you will too...
Oh yea...the material is light and NO BOLTS!!! ...yet when installed it is as firm as every other part on the vette...
...just make certain that you prepare the surface properly so that the 3M tape adheres...
...if done correctly..it will not budge
until the install...
...happy hibernation

Im still on the edge about this. I need more pictures of the finished, installed product.
Hey is anyone with a finished one going to be at cruise-in 08'? Im guessing a bunch cuz I want to see one in person.
One more time on a Nassau Blue! Had one on for several years and it got damaged and been waiting over a year for it's replacement. Best bang for the buck when it comes to spoilers IMHO.
Dang...I don't know if it's the area where I live, or if I am getting shafted.
I've gone to 7 paint shops now, and the CHEAPEST estimate I've gotten was from the DEALERSHIP!...They all say "Mag Red is a special tri-coat paint and that it has to have flex additive added, because of the material, etc"...I've gotten estimates for $380. on the High end...to $212. at the Chevy dealership...and NONE of these estimates is with it installed, but the Dealership DID say they would help me install it...I finally broke down and just dropped it off at the Dealership because they say they can have it done by next Tuesday...everyone else was "we'll have to work it in...2-3 weeks", etc..PLUS, 4 of the 7 paint shops tried giving me a line about not being sure this would hold paint, Where did you get this...blah, blah, blah...etc. These were all decent sized shops that have a good flow of business, but I got a distinct feeling at all 7 that they 'really' didn't want to be messing with something this small.....I read here that everyone is getting it done for much cheaper...and as Seinfeild was famous for saying "Whats the 'deal' with THAT?
You are in the "Premium" paint class! 2001 Mag Red II has the extra flake compared to the Mag Red I. And since its a tri coat you have an extra mid coat. I have looked around and when ordering the paint for your car since its a tricoat its DOUBLE the cost! If your getting it done for $212 and I got mine done for $125. I would consider it a fair price at this point. $380 there smoking crack!
