i just bought a 2000 vette, and it says i have 12% oil life left. should i trust jiffy lube, i take my own oil and filter, or should i set up time to take to a dealer ?
edit: tried to post a vid, but it won't work. Jiffy was busted by a 3month sting by a news team for charging customers for work but never really performed any work. Got caught on tape at several different Jiffy stores.
If you can't/won't do it yourself, then go to a dealership. But for sure, stay away from the jiffy lube-type stores. Those 17 year-olds have no appreciation for what you are driving and how much it means to you.

I do my own oil changes, but if you don't want to do that yourself, take it to a good shop and have it done. Don't think I would really trust Jiffy Lube on my car. My choice would be a dealer.
Well I agree with most that say to stay away from JL.........BUT, it depends.....I have used a local JL type place that only does these types of service for about 10 years on all my cars. I know the owner and most of the guys by sight. When I got my vette I took it there with my own Mobil 1 and Delco filters. They just drain and fill, they do not get in my car and I watch the whole operation. They have been very respectful of my vette and charge me the same $19.99 they charge everyone.
So it can work fine IF you build a relationship with the outfit and come to an understanding with them in advance.
do it yourself!!! Doesn't take long and YOU know what's being done. A friend of mine took their car to wal-mart for an oil change. The A hole forgot to put oil back in the car, needless to say the engine blew a week later. I can't believe it even took a week. But if you do decide to get it done somewhere just check over everything when you get it back

Really, there's nothing quite like the good feeling you get after changing your own oil. And the feeling lasts longer than the "just washed the car" feeling too, dont ya think?

Don't trust some teeniebopper who will put oil in any hole he or she finds under the hood.
Don't pay a RIDICULOUS price at the STEALERSHIP. Get some Mobil 1 5W30 at Sams (6 qts for abt $26 or the 5 quart plastic bottle at Wally World (if there get 2 so you have ENOUGH)
Reset your oil indicator by turning on the ignition without starting the car and pump the accelerator 3 times within 10 seconds. Goodluck BIGHANK

I have West Coast Corvette or Corvette Specialty do most of my work. They check for any GM recalls, to see what else it may need or what may fail in the near future.
It's good if you can find someone that you can trust and won't rip you off.
If money and time are a luxury for you, then drop it off at a dealership. I would rather do it myself, but I am kind of a turn-my-own-wrench guy, most people aren't.
I've had no problems taking my car to a Mobil1 for an oil change. Doesn't take too long, and you can watch them from 2 feet away do it, to make sure it gets done. Those are the only places I would take it aside from doing it myself.
A dealership is better than Walmart or Jiffy Lube. My dealer let me bring in my own Mobil 1 and just charged me for the labor and filter.
Or do it yourself.
