Yeah, that sucks big time.. I can totally relate. I had the exact same thing happen to a Cadiallac Eldorado I had years back. It was a summer day, I was at a cookout and it started raining. I sat in the car at idle with the AC running for about 20-30 minutes. It kept raining so we went to a store. Came back out of the store and it was sunny out. Started the car and poof, smoke from the engine sills, thru the vents inside, as I start moving. I pull over, pop the hood and there are flames everywhere... And yep, most of the actual damage was done by the fire department busting up all my windows and flooding the car. They even chopped holes in my hood. They looked like they were having fun though... It was totalled. From the looks of things yours will be too. So if that's the case what will you replace it with?
yeah they were smiling when they were hitting it....taking pix with there camera phone to.....i dont know i think i want another corvette....but not sure yet....im looking at the prices now...some ppl are 98-99 for over 23k? i bought my 00 may of 06 for $24000
Man, I know that there is nothing any of us can say to lessen the pain but I think all of us are hurting along with you; I know I am Hang in there and like everyone else said I am glad you and your GF got out unharmed.
Mark
P.S. I hope decide to buy another Vette because the Forum is a better place with you than without you.
I so sorry to hear that this happened to you . The important thing is that you and your passenger are ok . Its a sad day for all vert owners, myself included.
Oh Man, that is just terrible, sorry. That really sucks, try and hang in there, I am sure things will work out, and who knows, you might end up with a vette you like even more
They will total the car, trust me, no way they will want to try and fix it. After fire, and then all the water damage..you'd have to replace pretty much all the wiring and electronics.
i saw a c5 today that i might be interested.....again thanx for the comments.....its good to know others care about strangers....thank you...ill keep everyone posted
SO ive had this kit for a few months.....i love it....but recently 1 headlight turns off occasionally and sometime wont even trun on....any one had experience before? im gonna recheck the wiring....i did notice the ballast gets extremely hot i dont know what to do....and there in no 800 number for the product just an email address
If so, this might be worth sharing just in case someone else is using the same HID package.
Sorry about your car. I'm sure you be back into something pretty quickly. Also, you can be almost guarenteed that the car is totalled. After looking at the pictures of the aftermath, that really would be your best bet.
Question though - why did the fire department have to axe the windshield? I've been a volunteer fireman for 13 years or so, and I've fought my share of car fires - NEVER have I had to axe a windshield to put out a car fire, EVEN if the fire was in the dash - open the hood, yes - your car doors were open, so they had access to the inside anyway - no need IMHO to take out the front windshield - seems overzeleous to me?????
