You guys wonder why Porsche and BMW owners think Corvette owners are from a lower class of car enthusiasts maybe this photo tells us why. When the Plant Manager of what I consider the "Flag Ship" car from GM does this to the car should we wonder why? I was at Carlisle Friday and witnessed this well I call it a disgrace of the ZO6. Was there a doubt in anyone’s mind that a 500hp car could not smoke the tires to a point that they would blow out? Maybe GM should use this photo in a marketing campaign to increase sales to those people who need proof of the power of the ZO6. After the burn-out show they rushed the car to the GM tent to "tear" the fender off the car. The intention was to have Wil Cooksey sign it and then auction it off. I don't know what it brought, if anything, I was too disgusted to watch. It would be interesting to know how Wil's employees feel about what he did to one of their cars. I was fortunate enough to experience the Buyers Tour in April to see my Z being built. Through out the 4hr tour I spoke to many line workers. These people take great pride in the building these cars. They also make it a point to thank you for buying one. Chip Miller the ultimate Corvette enthusiast must have rolled over in his grave. Has Carlisle turned into a "TUNER EVENT" ????? Can we expect girls in a whip cream pit next year???
To people in the manufacturing section of the automotive industry (with a few exceptions, myself included) see cars about as emotionally as a grocer sees a banana. I work for a manufacturer on the sales/service (dealership) side. I am amazed at how many people don't give a damn about cars. They should go work somewhere else in my opinion. Cars are just a paycheck to them. I hate those people.

You are right. A real craftsman or rep would not show anything like that.
I respectfully offer another opinion - this just goes to show that Corvette people actually enjoy driving their vehicles and taking advantage of the car's capabilities. In other words, we just wanna have fun!! Personally, I don't really care nor get bothered by what the bluebloods think.
Let those uber-teutonic types wax their well-crafted battleships and sit there in admiration. Personally, I'd rather be cruising or hanging-out at the burnout competition!

Get off your high horse. It was a burnout show - it's entertainment. I doubt he, or I, or the majority of the people in the stands, or a lot of people on this board for that matter give a rat's a$$ what BMW or Porsche owners think. Whether Vette owners want to have garage queens or thrash the pi$$ out of their Vettes - we're still all one big family. I don't judge what other people do to their cars - it's their Vette.
Maybe you should sell your Vette and go join up with the Porsche and BMW guys so you can "look down" on us classless burnout loving tire thrashing Vette owners.
(and I guarantee you Chip Miller would have loved that burnout - his son did the first one on Friday didn't he?).
Dude, take a chill pill! I AM A BMW owner!! & a Vette owner, obviously......Burnout contests are cool as heck man! So what Mr Cooksey lit em up good & blew a tire.....blah, blah, blah!! I'm sure his wallet can afford a new tire & fender to go with it.
The upitty Porsche & Bimmer guys can kiss our butts anyway. They just wish thier cars were as cool as ours & could do what Vettes do.
We dont wanna hurt the poor line workers feelings now do we?? Give me a darn break, some of the "customizing" I've seen done to our cars is far more embarrasing to us than a tire blowout from a burnout
If someone promises me they'll be scantily clad ... I'll bring my Vette out from California .... and then there's a burnout show ??? ...... sounds almost as good as a weekend at **** Creek .... where a buddy of mine picked up a T-shirt that read ...
