Default Light Problem

Last night I had a issue with my lights. Flip the stick to have the lights pop up. Guess what they didn't pop up at all. At first I thought it might be a motor issue, but then I noticed that they weren't coming on at all. If I pulled the brights they came on but the dims didn't. I manually rasied the lights and still turning the headlights on with the switch produced nothing. I ended up driving home with holding the stick forward to get bright lights on. Had a few people not so happy with me.

I've had this happen once or twice before, but in each case just turning them off and on again the lights would come on.

So anyone have any ideas? Relay? Bad switch in the stick? I'm at a loss for where to try and troubleshoot this.

Thanks
Shane

Shane - that statement there makes me think you may have a deeper problem here...perhaps an issue with your wiring or a problem in the switch itself. Good luck troubleshooting this.

Fuse is good. I was afraid of this. I bet it is a deeper problem. No idea where to start though. I was hopeing there was a relay or something that had gone bad, but maybe not.

Your low beams and high beams are on separate circuits so the fact that the highs come on and the fuses are both good makes me think its the switch.

First thing to try is some electronics cleaner squirted into the switch. Its been known to clean up the contacts. If not, it's a switch change.

I'll double check fuses, but I thought they were fine. I'll then check grounds and clean them. Then go on to switch.
