Just dropped the vette off at the stealership to have the fuel sending units replaced. The service guy acted like they didn't want to that. He kept telling me how expensive they were. I told him the car was still under my extended warranty. He said someone would have to come check them out. Is this normal? How much will it cost to do this? I am also having them check out a loud roar in the back end of the car. Just wondering if anyone else has had this attitude thrown at them?
Its a long job and involves dropping the tanks. At the rates he'll get for warranty work maybe that explains his reluctance? Sounds like he doesn't need the business. If your gauge is reading zero he shouldn't need an inspection.
It will cost between $1k-$2k to replace them because of all the labor thats involved. Honestly I wouldnt bother replacing them because the new ones will eventually do the same thing. Best thing to do is get a bottle of Techron or Seafoam and put it in your gas tank before you fill up next time. That will clean your sending units and fix the problem.

As the replies will probably tell...this fix with Techron has worked for me and plenty of others on the Forum.

If you have plenty of time left on your extended warranty, try the Techron first. It does clean off sulfur deposits from the units and they might just work right again.
If that fails, you can then pursue getting them replaced. Might want to find another dealership though - one with a better attitude about doing the work.

Theres a TSB that gives dealers specific guidance for this problem. Techron treatment is the first step, then they reprogram the PCM (if you have a custom tune, be careful,,it will wipe out the tune if they re flash the PCM) to make the sensore less sensitive.
Thanks for the input. I have tried Techron, Seafoam, Stp complete system cleaner, Valvoline cleaner, etc. I still have the problem. I am going to let them go ahead and change the sensors out. They told me today that the roar I was hearing was coming from my runflats. Their is no way the noise can be that loud. He said the tires were wearing unevenly. Could that cause such an increase in the noise level?
