Hi,
backup lights flash when I use the fob to lock and unlock the car. They dont work when I select reverse. All other lights work. I think it's probably the reverse switch that controls the lights but I dont know where the switch is...
Anybody have any advice?

That's about all the help you can get. The wiring unplugs, the switch unscrews, screw in the new one, replug wires. If you don't know where the transmission is, you may want to have it done by someone who does. You also didn't specify manual or automatic, but this is on a 6 spd, it's on the passenger side of the transmission.

it is a breeze to do. the switch is located right on the passenger's side of the tranny. put the car up on ramps and just crawl under. the tranny is located just in front of the rear differential, center of the car, forward of the rear wheels. I believe its the only electrical plug on the passenger's side of the tranny.
when the switch goes out it usually shorts to ground. this pops the fuse. easy check, get a new switch, they are innexpensive. get under your car and unplug the connector on the backup switch (see pic above!) plug the new switch into that connector but not installed in the tranny yet. replace the fuse (I don't remember which one, but its a 10A. I'm sure someone will know. I want to say #21 in the fuse panel in the passenger's floor. but I'm not sure of that!) get a friend to help or make it so that you can see the backup lights. turn the ignition on but leave the engine off. get back under the car and push the little button on the end of your new backup switch with your finger. if the lights come on, and the fuse doesn't blow. the switch is your problem (most likely) use an open-ended wrench to remove the old switch, put the new on it and reconnect the electrical wire. you're good to go.

I can identify a transmission, and mine's a 6 speed. It's easier if you know what side of the casing to look at. I'm a big guy and I didnt want to have to squirm around looking for the switch any longer than I had to.
Are you guys implying there are actually folks on this list that dont know what a tranny looks like or how to find it in their Vette? WOW!
Now, I just need to get some jacking pucks. I've only had the car 3 weeks...

Hey. I just did this repair myself a couple of weeks ago. The backup lights are on a shared fuse with the monochromatic mirrors on my '03 6sp 'vert.

Its an easy fix.. You'll get some fluid leaking so be ready with the new switch as you take the old one out.
You can jack from one of the frames if you dont have pucks.
