Default Corvette camping

ok, can't find anything using google, so thought I'd try here:
Basically looking for any info on equipment (tent, and other camping gear available ) that is compact enough to be able to fit in a C5 coupe
that would allow you to dry camp for 3 to 5 days. Anyone with Corvette
camping storys or info on where to buy the gear/equipment, would be
greatly appreciated and a big Thank you in advance!!!

I'm interested in seeing what is possible camping wise with a C5, to plan some Route 66, and other road adventures in case motels are not
available.
again, Thank you!

most any tent and sleeping bags will fit in your car. If you have a sporting goods store near you you can see the sizes when they are stowed

As someone that camps regularly I can say it is very doable. As for a tent goes I would recommend something like a Eureka A-frame tent, rolls in a small bundle and assembles easy and is very dry if you get caught in the rain, make sure you put it on a ground cloth and tuck the excess in, sleeping bag, depends on your weather but just get a lightweight mummy bag probably 30 degree (might be a little warm). As for cooking that is up to you but a single pot stove by Coleman is very small and compact and they are dual fuel stoves so unleaded gas can be used or premium like your Vette I have not tried but I would think that my frame pack would fit behind the seats no problem and I carry everything I need in for up to a week. Hope this helps. Have fun.

Bob

Edit: One of those folding chairs will also fit in the back with no problem they are sold every where (folds down into a sack)

The Garage Queen Book of Etiquette clearly states that if YOU want to sleep outside, that's your business, but you should never subject your Corvette to such behavior! It's beneath her. Make sure you camp near a suitably heated and protected storage garage. Oh, and pack a California Duster!

Should be able to get at least a four person tent and a couple of sleeping bags in a coupe (plus clothes, etc) - not sure about a vert or FRC. I know I have stuffed a lot of things into the back of my coupe.

Go to REI. Get some light weight camping gear and you'll be fine. You're car has more than enough room in it as long as you don't carry a giant cooler or firewood. I camp and backpack myself. Although I haven't taken my Vette into the mountains, I have done so with my previous car which was a BMW Z3. The Z3 has a 1/4 of the storage space a vette has and I was able to carry my pack for a two day trip plus equipment and chairs for our base camp. You have plenty of room in the Vette as long as you don't carry a cooler or firewood. THose two items do not belong in a sports car anyway.

The last time I took the vette camping, my wife drove the 24' motorhome. I had to have something to pull the 22' boat!

I can easily fit a regular size ice chest in mine. Just have to turn the cooler so that it is lengthwise down the center of the car and the glass clears it when the hatch is shut. Then I have plenty of space on the sides and the very back for a 2 burner coleman stove, pots, 2 sleeping bags, 2 sleeping pads, tent, small bag for my clothes, BIG bag for my wife's clothes, camera bag, along with other misc stuff.

And at that point I can no longer see out of the rear window.

There is plenty of space in the vette for camping. The key is to pack light and not take any extra stuff. I use a single burner stove and a small cooler. A lot of stuff will fit in the storage compartments in the trunk. We have gone on many week or longer trips and I can say two things about camping in the vette. First, nothing but compliments from everyone you meet. Second, I have never seen another vette in a campgroud.

As someone who has camped out of a ('77) Corvette and on a motorcycle before I can safely say that there is plenty of room for essential gear in the Corvette. I always look for motorcycle camping gear or backpacking gear as it is usually designed to be lightweight and compact. Also, if you are looking for tips on gear you can check out different motorcycle camping blogs as they are often centered around compact gear and how to get by with only the essentials. This is one of my favorite tents http://www.lightweightmotorcyclecamp...b01n424t0d.htm. They also make a 2 person model if you are bringing a friend. It packs up really small only 15"x7"!!
