what are you guys doing about flats that are running the 'regular' tires? I've had blow outs going about 100 mph before. no problem with the run flats. the dash lit up and told me to slow down to below 55.. didn't really even have any handling issues. I've gotten about 7 flats with my vette since I've had it. almost always 'drywall screws' from all the construction in the area I live in. how do you handle blow outs and flats with no run flats? sure would like to have a quieter set of tires on the car -bmb
I replaced my old runflats with new runflats due to the blow out and no spare possibility. I don't autocross so the Goodyear runflats handle just fine for me and I like the security just in case....... To each their own.
Like you I've had my fair share of nails so I went with new runflats for that reason. I've already been glad I made that decision when I broke a tire valve and the tire deflated. I'd have been stranded otherwise.
I fitted Michelin AS ZPs. Much quieter but still give the peace of mind of a runflat.
If it helps you any I have a full set avg. 5/32" Also have a pair of 9/32 fronts . A single 10/32 rear and a single 9/32 front. Pair of 9/32 rears.
All Goodyear F1's runflat.
I just purchased a set of Michelin AS ZP's. I had a puncture with my Goodyears that had 25k miles on them. I was originally thinking about getting non-run flats until the puncture. When they switched out my tires, I had a screw in the other rear tire.
The Michelin's are night and day difference fom the old Goodyears

I hope I dont get a nail in my tire. Havent had a flat yet with my non runcraps on. Ive gotten a few nails in my tires before but it only caused a very slow leak so I could get it repaired before it went flat. So far Ive never had a blow out.

How far can you drive with zero pressure on the Michelins?
Oh well, it probably doesn't matter since no one seems to want to repair a runflat. I will definitely stick with runflats, but will probably give the Michelins a try.

I have had Michelin ZPs repaired........was no problem at Discount Tire
I'm pretty sure it's 200 miles @ 55MPH for the GY (it's in the owner's manual). I think Michelin and others are only 50 miles (not sure if its at highway speeds though?).

GY is 50 miles and still be repairable or up to 200 miles if needed but will need to replace the tire. For most of the others you will have to replace the tire if driven more than just a few miles and the max miles is 50.
One thing I have never understood. So may people complain about the tire/road noise with runflats. The Vette is a SPORTS CAR not a Caddy or Lincoln. Why even put a radio in them? The car makes more then enough beautiful music for me.

tom...
I had to go 200 with a flat and I chose to get a 'tow' if the tire went might have ripped body panels off and ruined a wheel. that was a $900 flat.

from the corvette website:
Extended Mobility Tires (EMT)
Every Corvette is equipped with "Run-Flat" Goodyear Extended Mobility Tires (EMT) that help eliminate the need for a spare. The tire design helps enable safe function during and after loss of pressure for up to 100 miles of continuous driving at 55 mph. Keep in mind that the shorter the distance you drive with the loss of pressure, the better the chance that the tire can be repaired.
