Ran into the red
I was accelerating rapidly the other day and got into the "red" a bit and car started to sputter and miss! What happened and what was wrong? Is it possible I damaged something? Was only a tad bit into the red and only there for a few seconds!

The car has a rev limiter and it sounds like you've bumped into it. Nothing to worry over. That's it's purpose - to protect the engine from over-revs.
I'd be happy to take her off your hands for a few grand.
