I have a Hurricane air filter, cleaned it for the 1st time and let it dry. The manufacurer said to put oil in every third rib and let it soak in. I have let the filter set on some rags overnight but to me there is still quite a bit of oil on the filter. Is this normal? thanks in advance
You might want to a paper towel to soak up residual oil. Certainly, if you shake the filter, you shouldn't see oil splatters on the ground. If so, there is too much oil in the filter.
I use the aerosol K&N oil on my permanent filters and spray on a very lightcoat.
I usually let it sit for a week to soak in and dry..
I keep two filters.... one in the Vette, the other is the one cleaned, dried and oiled.
With any oil gauze filter, use sparingly on a clean dry filter, allow it to wick and install.
Having two filters is a great idea, especially since you can find them fairly inexpensive in the CF classifieds on a regular basis.
I think some tend to overclean.......should be a 50,000 mile thing. When you do, get all of the old oil out so the filter will wick up the new oil which really doesn't take much.
