It sure is interesting how personal tastes on this subject vary....
I bought Borla Stingers and had them for 3000 miles on my car. I couldn't wait to get rid of them. They were too loud for me and worse of all, the drone drove me crazy. I got Corsa pace Cars, no drone at all, and I'm extremely happy. Corsa Pace Cars get loud when I want them loud... when I'm down hard on the gas peddle. At WOT, I think Corsa Pace Car is as loud as Borla, but only at that time. To say it more exactly, they start sounding off above 2200 RPM and get louder from there. Corsa Pace Car also have an exotic note. If you like a deep muscle sound, Corsa Pace Car may not be for you.
As a data point, I sold my Borla Stingers on the Forum for $600 with 3K miles on them. A $200 penalty for trying them out.
That's kinda funny because after hearing Corsa Touring cat-backs at a Dyno-Day event, along with Borla Stingers, GHLs, and a slew of others, I bought the Stingers. To me they were closest to that mid-sixties sound I had with my 68 C3. The Corsas sounded too much like a boat at idle. Yes, they sound exotic at WOT, but it couldn't make up for the motorboat idle, at least to my ears.
I want extremly loud. I went to the mid america cite and they said the stingers were one of the loudest. I have the stock x pipe I believe.
I have Borla Stingers on my 03 and B&B Bullets on my 05. Bullets definitely much louder! As has been said many times on this forum, it's a matter of personal preference.
you may want to give them some time. many exhaust systems will get louder over the course of a few weeks or months. I'm not sure why, but it could be due to protective coatings on the interior pieces which burn off. I thought it was strange when I first heard of it, but many do get louder. Borla's instructions even say that you can expect them to smoke some for a while as it burns off the oily residue which is on the inside of the pipes when the come from the factory.
I love my Borla Stingers for their note. Volume wise I consider them quite tame. My SHO's exhaust is much louder.

The stingers are tame??
Maybe I should run straight pipe as well (Borla makes some, 1/2 the price of Stingers) or I can have my exhuast guy make up a custom T304SS set for even less.

I was very dissapointed with the stingers. When I got them I was expecting for it to give the car a real American V8 muscle car sound...... MEHH!!

I have the B&B PRT's on my 98 and they are quite loud. Not too bad at idle, although I am not crazy about how they sound at idle, but when you stand on the loud pedal...WOW! I do get a lot of compliments on how my car sounds. I think headers would help tune the sound at idle and that is what it needs. All I need is a little more money and all my problems are solved.
