I have a crazy question. I am wondering if I bought my my Z with an after market shifter. Short of taking it apart is this anyway to tell. I do not have another Z to compare it too. It does have the standard **** but i heard people reuse these. I am used to *** cars and their shifters feel a lot different than the Z.

Nick, if you have the stock shifter it will feel loose and sloopy, the stock shifter is very long, and is hard to shift from second to 3rd when racing. An aftermarket shifter will feel much tighter and precise, along with being much shorter. My B&M Ripper feels like it clicks into each shiftgate, you will not feel this with a stock shifter, I do leave the stock **** on it as I dont like to make any cosmetic changes to my cars. If I were you, I would just go to the dealership, and ask the tech, its easy to pull the boot off, and the shifter swap takes about 10 minutes if you know what you are doing. If it is stock I would change iot, you wont regret it, the stock shifter isnt that great.
