Default 2001-2003 problems, piston slap ect

Looking to buy a 01-03 coupe (not Z06) and am wondering if there are any known problems to watch out for. One of my concerns is the piston slap issue. As far as body damage I will either buy from a new car store or have the car inspected by a body shop before paying.

Thanks!

Oil consumption is the only problem that has affected some of the 01's

my 01 does not drink oil like others...

read the sticky at the top of the page and it will shed the light on common vette issues.

also I am selling my 01... I would recommend buying from a forum member or a local corvette club member...

dealers are stealer's.

Thanks

Well after reading the sticky I may stay with '02-03 and am not going to have a car shipped to me as I will need to seriously go over the car before purchase.

Given the choice I would rather pay little more (within reason) at a new car dealership than buy private party becuse you are not going to get a car with previous damage or any title issue and if you do they would most likely take the car back. A private party has no obligation to disclose anything to you. And, unfortunately, I've seen plenty of complaints here about members getting ripped off by other members.

Piston slap is a common small block chevy noise. Just let your car warm up. Or put an accu- or dry sump in

Common noise on what years? So to check for this I make sure the engine is cold before starting and then listen for some nasty rattling sounds?

past 20 some years on all small block chevys, not just the LS engines

Not a nasty rattling just a small tap tap tap tap from the engine compartment until the engine is warmed up and oil is circulating

Nothing to worry about
