My baby is already in for storage. I usually put it in by Nov. 15, car insurance renewal time. I drop it down to storage only. But, I just got my car back from a paint repair from a tangle with a bungie strap. I am a little paranoid now to drive her so she's in for good for winter. I am lucky in one repect though. My garage I keep her in is a big shop. I have it lit and heated. I spend allot of time hanging out there with her.

I'm in sunny SoCal - so I have no clue what it feels like to shut my car down.
With that said, kudos to some HARDCORE Corvette enthusiasts who love the C5 so much they buy it anyways knowing they won't get to play with it all year. That's some dedication!!
Much too early to put the Vette away for the winter. Last year I recall driving mine into the new year. I'll wait until we get the first snow fall.
I don't store my car at home. I'd love to keep it out a little longer, but the last thing I want to do is wake up some morning to find a light dusting of snow on the ground and salt on the roads. Unfortunately, they use a ton of salt on the roads here in the Chicago area, whether we need it or not.
Sorry, I can't sympathize. These cars were made for driving, and driving hard. It is your choice to do this.
Me, I live in Maryland (not much more south than you), and my 1998 C5 is a daily driver with close to 109,000 miles on it. Only had two problems: one oil pressure sensor and one headlight gear.
I, unlike you, will have many similes on my face from driving my C5 this winter.
Me too, mine is a daily driver, winter included. It still fools a lot of people into thinking it's a much newer car! It doesn't look like a ten year old car with 87,000 miles on it at all. The key is keeping it clean, don't let the winter road salt sit on the paint for too long. I get a full handwash done at a local detail shop every Saturday morning during the wintertime. (and I'll often go to the $2 spray wash through the week to hose off excess salt as well)
I'm sure my car doesn't look as good as a pure "fair weather only" C5, but it's pretty darn close, and I don't have to wait for winter to be over in order to get my daily fix. I absolutely could not handle seeing my car sitting doing nothing for 3-4 months straight!
My baby came from Maryland....flew in it was 27 degrees.....man, I thought I was in the North Pole....forgot about all that cold when I lived in St Louis...bought the car from a CF member......drove home in fresh 2 inch snowfall.....just beautiful...got home to the Sunny South....grabbed a hose and bucket....gave 'Thunder' a quick wash and headed out to Savannah within an hour with my Corvette club.....had the bags packed.....we were exhausted but too excited to notice.....love this car.....couldn't imagine not being able to drive him (and yes, it's a 'him')....everyday....
hang in there, Charlene, Spring is comin'......

Reason: spelling
i speak for everyone in the northeast when i say we "hate you"
It was 91 degrees yesterday so the indian summer continues, sorry for you folks in the cold country. I wish it was a little cooler here, soon it will be in the 70's and what will I do
I'll take mine out during the winter as long as there isn't snow/water or salt on the road.
It's a little too soon to be putting it away IMHO. Besides, winter's not a bad time to drive provided the roads are clear. Just have to be careful as those cold tires don't hold the road very well.
I have never stored a vehicle for winter yet. Of course I have never owned a nicer car than my 01 Z06!!! I plan to drive her everyday possible, The car is in IL, and will be in Colorado. IL isn't so bad sometimes but we will see about CO. I hope I don't have to store the Z at all!!! I really love driving sports cars but its a pain when you don't live in a warm climate year round!!!
