i just installed my brass gears on my head lights now they wont turn on like it used to. i have to turn the switch back an forth like 10 times then they will pop up the gears work an everything just that i have trouble making them pop up. any ideas? anyone?
Both the headlight switch and the hazard switch are prone to failures
Next time you have the problem try recycling the hazard switch quite hard a few times. If that clears it, theres the problem. If not try some electronics cleaner in the headlight switch. If you identify either as being bad there are how tos out there. Try a search.
You could also check the ground for the headlamp control module
Well, I am probably not the best one to answer since I have fought my own headlight problems for several weeks (finally resolved!), but here goes...
I also thought that the switch might be going south but I am assuming (possibly incorrectly) that this never happened before swapping to brass gears. If that's the case, it seems unlikely that the switch would choose this particular time to go bad. However, if this has EVER happened before, then I think the switch may very well be the culprit.
In addition to checking for a good ground, I'd double-check to make sure your connections to the motors are tight and fully snapped into place.
im gona try to check that because it wasnt doing it before the brass gears. before i would turn on the lights then they would pop right up now i got to turn the switch on an off like ten times. dont get me wrong i can still get it up lol
OK, so my reasoning is that you appear to be having an electrical problem since the lights eventually do respond to the switch and you have NEVER had that problem before. But in the course of changing your gears, you unplugged several electrical connections... and now you have a problem... coincidence? I think not.
Well, I guess I missed the mark before. But let's think about this... if you didn't unplug anything and if both headlights are responding (or not responding) in the same way, it seems to me that it has to be either a ground problem or the switch. I saw something on the forums about the various grounding locations but don't recall where.
