The only one I evar saw that could be turned of was in the movie Road Warrior. Hell...Mel did it while he was running down the road. If Mel did it...it must be possible.
while driving can you turn the supercharger on or off?
Send me your maggie and I'll do some tests on this problem for you. It should only take me about a year or so to get an answer but it will be a good detailed answer.

I thought of the same referrence! Although it is still not possible. I watched a video on that car and the button activated supercharger was a prop used just for cool factor in the movie... not functional.
Now NOSSSSSSSSSS is a different story. Flip the switch (as in Fast and Furious) and it'll feel like a booster rocket kicked in to get you to 150 in a second or two......
funny smart *** replies aside (though amusing) The Maggie is a roots style belt-driven supercharger. It can not be "turned off" The Maggie requires between 33 and 52 hp to turn but produces an additional 150-180 hp. The total Hp gain is found by subtracting the parasitic power loss from the total power gain.
Assuming you want to turn it off for economy, there's no real way to do this. At highway crusing speeds, your fuel economy shouldn't differ that much from an N/A car especially in hill country.
