When thye American Intersate system was designed, it was based on the Autobohn (Eisenhower liked the setup).
Unlike the Autobohn driving on the American Interstates at autobohn speeds is impossible due to inexperienced drivers and the fact that they are designed to reap revenues for every township and city along their route.
Years ago Benny Parsons said that most Americans should not operate a car above forty miles and hour as they are for the most part idiots when it comes to knowledge of how their vehicles would perform in an emergency situation. Today the way some people drive tells me that they should "Take the Bus!"

I just peddle along at the speeds that the interstate system was designed for. with my radar detector on of course.
Still waiting for the idiots in Ohio to raise it to the speed limit of all the states around it and that is 70.
Will Ohio join the rest of the states, probably not as the $$$ going into the state coffers is too good.

Mark / 57 / Yes. Is there a pill that will cure my ill?

Probably not. I'm glad that the C5 has that sissy handle on the passenger side. I'm always cleaning the wifes finger prints off it.

Of course I feel that urge everytime I fire her up. Fortunately, I also have a lot of common sense(ok, a little common sense) and know when and where I can take her up to speed.
Of course, it helps to know a few LEO's too.

Rod/59. Been trying to satisfy the need for speed at the track with my Rotax go kart. Unfortunately, it seems the more time I spend on the track, the more I need to go faster on the road.

Default Addicted To Speed

I have been an Open Road Racer for 10 yr. I am sure I have spent well over $400,000 in that time to get to drive fast. I even do it in my street cars. Not a car I have is stock. To say I have a love of speed is a understatement.

Sorry to be posting these comments, but I have to say yep, I absolutely love putting my right foot down, and can do it every day on the way to work.

I owned my C5 for 3 years in FL and would have sold it - never used all that power - I had 23 lights on the way to work and my avg speed was 21 MPH. I could never use more than 1/4 the accelerator or I'd be doing 60 in a 35 in a second. A useless $35K toy.

This truly is a great place to be - be sure to give Germany a visit.

Tom 52 going on 23 / YES

I put my right foot to the floor out of almost all corners. BUT

There is a right place to do such things . . .

and on public roads in my pick-up I drive more like an old grandpa at 45 mph

Default Just knowing is enough - most of the time

Frank / 50 / yes

I am WOT guilty, especially without my lovely wife riding shotgun. But only when the road ahead and behind is vacant and the detector is quiet. Most of the time when I am harrased by some others that feel like making a stand, I just jump up to the posted limit and waive in the rear view. I am all smiles when the fart by exceeding the limit. No tickets after two years of C5 MN6 pleasure ! but did you know there is a ticket called "Unsafe Acceleration" ... I have been warned

James - 48

Had to vote No, because I am generally not like that. However, I was behind a cop this morning doing the speed limit, but fighting the urge to pass him on the right and flooring it.

If these are your urges, then best sell the vette for a Smart car.

When the road is clear of everything, fun can be had! If a vette speeds and noone is there to hear it, does it really speed?

Okay! After re-reading your posted question I would say that is it a driving force! NO!

Do I have the sensation no matter when there is a stretch of road to let'er rip! You bet you ASSSSSS! I do! and I do!

Heck w/565RWHP and 483RWTQ and Meth on its way! Come on!

But I keep it w/in a reasonable degree! so as not to put others in harms way!

But I am always on the lookout for a stab at the throttle no matter what!

Thanks,Matt

There are plenty of rural roads around the Palmdale, Lancaster area.
