Default Kooks or Dynatech LT Headers?

Contemplating installing lt headers on my 02 Z06 - Have 2 great local Houston shops speciallizing in Vettes. One recommends Dynatech the other Kooks. Pricewise, total drive out for either shop is about $1,950.

Thoughts on whether to go with Dynatech or Kooks?

Dyanatechs have worked well for me. Do get a ticking sound when car is at idle.

Ditto, without any ticking sound.

i have the kooks on mine, just had them jet hot coated. the stainless steel was turning brown and i wanted to reduce the heat given off the headers. seems like the coating reduced the sound also.

Why would coating reduce sound? I'm going to get headers eventually and will definitely get them coated, but I want all the sound I can get .

You can't go wrong with either one. I'm sure that whichever the shop has in stock is the one they will recommend. Kooks, Dynatech, LG's, and American Racing seem to be the most popular.

Personally, I went with the Dynatechs because I installed them myself and they come with everything you need. They were pretty easy to install. I hear the Kooks are harder to install because you have to lift the engine slightly. Since you are having them installed by the shop, the Kooks would be a good option.

I love my Dynatechs, but in reality you can't go wrong with either one. Choose the one you like best.

Good luck on your decision

I've got Kooks with a blower. No complaints.

But after I had them installed, I had read some posts on the board that the longer long tube on the Dynatech's would for better low end torque whereas Kooks would have better high end torque because of its shorter long tubes. I don't know how much of a difference this really makes and even if there is a difference, whether or not it is noticeable. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable on this could chime in...

I have my Dynatechs coated all the way back to the muffler. I think the sound that gets deadened may be the ticking. They certainly don't reduce the sound coming out of the Borlas. 96 db at 75 ft full throttle in third.

i'm not saying that the coating will reduce the sound at the muffler, there is no difference there. what i am saying is that i do not notice the ' header ' sound as much as before i had them coated.
