Default Looking for Partition

Who makes the best partition (lightweight and factory like fit and finish), and who has the best price?

I realize I can make one, but I don't have the time right now, and I just want a quality piece.

Thanks,

Chris

Xtreme motorsports sells the best quality one for $360ish in the forum mall.

Ecklers has a "reasonable" one for $99, a lot cheaper $, but not as nice.

I made mine.

I disagree. I have seen both and I believe the cheaper Ecklers is actually a much nicer piece. One of the guys that spent $400 for his saw mine and was really upset at how much he had spent. While the Ecklers is a true carpet match, the other one is black but not carpet. Everyone I know with the carpeted Ecklers unit has been very happy with it. Here's mine -

Are both the Eckler's and Xtreme/West Coast Corvette partitions made of the same material underneath? Do they block out the same amount of sound from the trunk?

Personally, I am leaning toward the $99 Eckler's, because I like the all carpeted look, and it's $99!

Is the Eckler's model available with a Z06 emblem?

I saw Joecoool's car and a car with the expensive one. The Eckler's unit actually filled the space better!!! The more expensive one had some gaps around the outside of it. If I had an FRC my first mod would be that Ecklers unit.

Be aware that the 2002 back carpet is different than the 2001. If you have a 2002 and matching carpet in the rear is important to you, make sure the partition you choose has the 2002 carpet on the backside. :)

do you know if the Eckler's unit is available with matching '02 carpet? If not, I will just wait until they make one for the "02.

Thanks,

Chris

Guys, as someone who firsthand worked on getting the right carpet match for my 02, and someone who works for the company that molds the carpet for the Z06, let me just say:

I have not seen the Eckler's partition so I cannot comment, but I have the one from Xtreme.

The Xtreme can be ordered with carpet on BOTH sides if desired. Standard is carpet on the back and vinyl on the front. The 01 and 02 carpet is the same color, BUT for some reason the nap direction is varying between the two years and it looks like a different shade. SO, the bottom line is that you need to order the right year partition for your car so that the color appears perfect. Xtreme can handle this, and you can order with carpet on both sides if you want. Personally I don't like carpet on the front side, since all the mating pieces in the car are plastic around the front of the partition.

Here are some pics of my 02 partition with a perfect color match:

Spend the duckets on the one made by Z06 Parts . It is available from Xtreme. You will not be disappointed!! This is an item that is built like a factory part!!!! You spent 50K on a world class sports car, don't worry about another 400 bucks on the BEST partition available. I am convinced that if GM were to make the partition an option it would be built like this one. Buy it before it is patented and the price doubles. It is the BEST!! No question.

Personally,I purchased the FRC Partition from Nate for my 2002 Z06. The shading of the carpet didn't match at all...but he is aware of that problem and the email he sent to me today stated, the manufacturer still has no ETA for the delivering of the correct shading of carpet. But,as soon as it arrives,he informed me,he is shipping it to me,both the Partition and the Center cover, which also doesn't match. Nates' work ethics is second to none and I am very satisfied with the workmanship that went into making these 2 items. The 1/8"-1/4" clearance one sees at the top of the Partition is their for a reason. When shutting the trunk or your doors, this purposeful gap allows air to escape, easing the shutting process.
So........here is to Nate and the boys at ExtremeMotorsports

I got mine from Nate at Xtreme. Though I still think it is grossly overpriced, it is the best qaulity piece avaliable. I've seen the Ecklers one also and I think it looks cheap. It also doesn't insulate sound as well as the one I got. Here's mine.

Yes, I can HONESTLY say that I like the ecklers unit. So what if its only carpeted foam, it does the job its suppose to. And yes, the side facing the trunk is not carpeted but so what. Its a nice dark gray foam. Besides, who cares what their trunk looks like?

If its worth the extra $300 to have your trunk all black, buy the more expensive unit. To me, the Ecklers unit looks much better from the inside of the car and thats the side I'm concerned about.

Jackhammer :smash: :smash:
I don't really think this arguement holds water. A lot uf use bought this particular world class sports car because of the awsome value ("bang for the buck") it delivers! So one might think that Z06 owners are relitively frugal in the world of sports cars. Regardless, the price of the car has no relevance in the debate of whether a partition is a good value or not.

To answer the question, Xtremes/Andy's is generally considered the best aftermarket partition if you don't mind the price.

Z06bliss, yes people are making there own, I am. I drew up a sketch of the actual dimensions of the opening and emailed it to about 15 guys from Z06vette.com to build one from. I have the facilities at my disposal to build one that I consider as good or better than the partition available and I like doing things like that.

I bought the uncovered one from Ecklers for 40 bucks. Covered it myself with carpet (both sides) using Permatex Headliner Adhesive. It fits great and and looks good too. I can even tell that I have speakers in the back. I might have 60 bucks in it at the most.
