just broke 110k last month on my '03 .. original owner.
trust me .. it lasts.
i'm now looking into full blown racing with it
and btw .. they ran the ls1 at almost 6k for 24 hrs to estimate duriability .. when they tore it apart afterwards, guess what they found .. almost NO wear.
The LS1 is twice the engine that the LT1 and the L98 was. Them guys are pissed becuase there still driving the C4 so they have to try to make the C5 look bad. The LS1 is a great motor for high milage.
I agree..my 99 frc has 102456 miles and it ran 109 miles in the 1/4 Bone stock saturday Ls1 FTW!!!
Do not hate on out c4 brothers at all. that is a no no
and I do believe he was refering to the rebuilding of the engine. It is NOT intended to be rebuilt multiple times.
"GM used centrifugally cast iron liners that are very dense and thins, so they can only be machined 0.010 inch. This leaves minimal bore thinckness for the engine to be sufficiently overbored without being sleeved.
Also, the main bearing caps have and interference fit into the engine block receiving surfaces. This interference fit is used to lock the main caps in place without using dowel pins. eventually, to maintain this lock , either dowels will need to be installed for used with aftermarcket steel cap and/or the receiving area will need to be re- machined."
This just affects how you will have to rebuild an aluminum gen 3 motor.
