I had my mechanic do an A/C compressor replacement. To get it out, he first removed and reinstalled the water pump ...The total labor bill was $275 including not only the r&r on the water pump BUTalso the replacment of the A/C Compressor, purgin a and refilling the A/C system ...
Yes you are and it's not a pretty sight either. I gather you are not handy with tools and/or no time to do it?
They are going by book time, I wonder what their labor rates are... must be in the hundred plus per hour range.
Plus the parts, you pay for rags and gloves, also to clean up the shop and disposal of the materials and fluids.
Dealers are in business to maximize profits, service is the highest profit center on their lot. Do the math. They have no intention to treat you fairly.
RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEE EEEEEE go get your car. now!!! what a rip off. you can have a nice cam and waterpump installed for that price. did you go get your car yet?
I don't totally understand your post. Why are you being charged that much if you have a lifetime warranty? And if the warranty doesn't cover ****, take it somewhere else. Any mechanic should be able to fix a water pump leak.
they are currently dismantling things to be certain that the leak is coming from the water pump and are going to charge me $110 to do so.
I guess I'll tell them to put it back together ...give them there 100 or so bux and look elsewhere to have the pump replaced.
to answer previous question, i have neither the time nor the know how to do it myself. (and unfortunate and costly lack of knowledge)
.... there currently is not a lifetime warranty...they apparently are charging me a lifetime warranty on parts and labor for the new water pump as part of their quote.
so...RUN FOREST is the appropriate answer then....
great.
