Yep and you get what you pay for... these were $50,000 cars in most cases when new... they deserve better than a Pep Boys special.

The tips need to be at least 4" if not 4.5" and they need to be centered more.

Great idea... just needs bigger tips

I wonder if there is anyone that has done a whole vette strictly with budget mods.

Good job - get bigger tips and your set.

Now post a sound bite or video.

What a great way to raise the middle finger to Borla, B & B or whoever for charging big $$$$ for pcs of metal, what, they think there sh*t is made of gold or something?

Now now Brian. I think it is a bit rude to criticize someone because they might value the mighty dollar in another way than you do. For $30 how can you beat the set up?

The vette tax in my opinion is ridiculous. If you really think you're getting some diamond encrusted gem of an exhaust piece I suggest you lay off of the crack pipe a bit.

What you also don't understand is that this gentleman's father has raised him to believe that trumpeted style tips are only for queers as he used to beat on them in the 60's if he found someone cruising with them.

The problem with most of the so called "vette" guys on here is that they aren't true car guys. If he decides to go with another system down the road at least he can say he built something with his own hands for $30 bucks, which is what wrenching and fabbing up parts is all about.

I can't see a difference between a cat back system made out of stainless by one self or one you spend $600> for. Now headers are a different story. (BTW, would you call a custom bent up exhaust for a '67 vert frame off resto a disgrace? If so, I guess someone with such skill to build such a car isn't as smart as you to go spend idiotic money on something as irrelevant as a cat back.) Enjoy your vette tax.

No... it's not rude... the exhaust looks like ****. I am a perfectionist and I believe in doing things right. If you're not going to do it right then don't do it at all. I don't live my life half-assed. So the exhaust is $30... so what... why do it at all if it looks like absolute crap.

And as for questioning me as a "car guy" hahahaha... yes I'm your typical vette guy who buys every little piece of **** mod out of Mid America and Ecklers then has shiney and painted **** all over my car.

I don't do my own motor work, I don't do my own race prep, I don't race my vette, and I only own Corvettes... yep... only a Corvette for me.

There's nothing wrong w/ a custom bent exhaust... I take pride in doing things myself and not wasting money... but to put something that looks so poor on such a nice car and be proud that it cost $30 is ludacris.

It'd be like putting some craptastic ghetto wheels on the car and being pround you got them from flea bay for so cheap... just because you saved money doesn't mean it's good.

I've been on here for 7 years... it gets old when every mod done is greeted with a , , looks great etc... it's like people don't look at the posts and just reply w/ a

Honestly... it's his car, if he likes it why would he care what some guy in Virginia thinks on the internet... it's a public forum and in my opinion the exhaust looks like junk... I expressed it and that's all it is. There is no forum rule that I have to be supportive and nice about everything.

And precisely why I can come on here and flame you all I want.

And so the types don't look good that were bought on a whim. EWWWWWWWWW THE TIPS, I DON'T LIKE THE TIPS, EWWWWWWW.

You've been here 7 years? That's the same argument that comes from so called "elders" who know nothing.

On another note......Z16 FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Brian -

I disagree - it was rude.

If you feel it is your right to be rude - then so be it.

You are always helpful when people need help - and certainly will tell people what they don't want to hear - and that is good.

All you need now to make your package "perfect" is tact.

You are a perfectionist, right?

best regards -

Mind you I am here to be the leveler and dish it out just as much as I see anyone get it.

Refer to pictures of carbon fiber hood unpainted.......delightfully tacky and ricer style.

Also I have been looking on google for HOURS (Christopher Walken voice) for tip boutiques that sell heinously large tips with diamonds and gold plates. No scratch that SOLID gold.

Well 4+ inch tips is out of the question....that's why most systems with tips that large have a awful idle and decel. Almost as bad as putting a unpainted hood on a car, my car deserves better than that.

Honestly that's what I thought when o bought that tips......look like a larger stock style. This was all spur of the moment, sitting at work. Like I said a second set to fill it in will do me fine.

The tips have nothing to do with the sound comming out of the pipes... it's the muffler size, shape, material and pipe lengths. If you look at a Borla Stinger single tip you'd see that it's a twin walled tip. The inside is the standard diameter metal pipe and the larger tip w/ the rolled edge is round it.

My hood is painted... it's painted black. I chose to not waste money on painting the hood yellow as millenium yellow is a 3-stage color that is near impossible to perfectly match. To do it I would have had to blend the fenders and the tigershark facia. I am painting my entire car starting this Friday and I knew I would be doing so when I purchased the hood.

Enough about me.... back to your poor choice in exhaust

I'm sorry but a 4.5" rolled tip looks far better than the OP's setup... these cars ahve a large exhust opening.

Here's a perfect analogy to explain visually why your exhaust is no good.

Think of *****... do you like sagging, floppy, spread apart, flapjack A-cups? Or... do you like nice round DD's that barely move when you remove the bra?

Yeah... I know which one I'm going with.
