I could probably find room for the C3 here. Just trying to help you out there ole buddy.
As some of you know I'm installing a Kenwood DNX 7100 in my Vert. Console is at C5 Kidd's (Hopefully on it's way back soon). So this weekend I decided to pull it apart, get the sound deadening kit in and get the wiring done. So Saturday I started on it.
First off I purchased a a spare radio cage, figured it would be easier to mod out of the car then in it. Well that didn't go as planned. When I got to the point of getting ready to pull it, after fighting with the dash and all the bolts that hold it in I realized that the shifter cable goes right though the cage. Immediately I had a flash back of Dennis (C5 BearsFan) on when he did his and broke the cable. So at that point I figured mod the cage in the car.
Well anyway let's get to the pic's.
First a little mod I did before hand, new drivers visor with a built in homelink...
The I got to pulling her apart....
Hopefully my bezel is on it's way back to me. I've PM, emailed and left voice mails for Brian (C5 Kidd) on it. He has had it since October 26 and stated it would take two weeks. In the beginning of the week he did send me a PM stating it was modded and ready for texture and paint and should be shipped by the end of the week. He was going to send me a tracking number but as of today no tracking number.
Stay tuned for Part Two when I do the wiring and speaker.....
Hi Wayne,
The cable that run throughs the center cage, is to lock the transmission in park for an auto car.
It has nothing to do with the shifter cableattached to your tranny.
You can just pop it off and re-put it on when your done or you can remove ignition switch and disconnect wires.
I learned this when I did my tranny conversion from an auto to a six-speed.
You're doing a great job, can't wait to see the finished product.

Great job so far Wayne.
While you're at Lowe's pick up a roll of ThermoKing. I layered it on top of the Crazy Cowboy all over in the cabin. HUGE difference in heat from the console area and some impact on overall sound level. Costs almost nothing, weighs almost nothing and is way easier to work with than the stiff Crazy Cowboy layer. Just give yourself some room around the mounting points for the seat rails. I had a heck of a time getting those plastic protectors back on the front of the rails.
Installation looks dificult and very time consuming. But then looking at the outside what else could you be doing. Keep us posted. The Kenwood DNX 7100 is on my shopping list. A spare Console will be on the way to Brian.

Wayne, the key to the sound insulation is to use a combo of diff insulators to block diff frequencies. Your on the right track buddy. You have to watch out like mentioned before about going to thick on the insulation because you'll have a hell of a time putting the panels back on
only mentioned the towel because i dont remember what is back there and you dont want to short out any circuits that may be exposed to the fillings.
Take your time with moving the brackets. its better to just walk away and have a beer than to get frustrated. keep up the progress pics, it will help a ton when the next guy attempts it themselves.

Hi Tony,
Probably could have worked through it but decided to just mod the cage as it was there. Didn't want to introduce any unforeseen issues with this install. I still have the issue in getting the console back to me modded.
