You would probably be happier with '03 AE edition. That color is more burgandy.
I really like the Anniversary Red of the '03. It is the biggest reason I bought an '03.
But....it too is many colors in one based on the amount and type of light. I really dig the gold hue when under direct sunlight or bright "display" lights. But on a cloudy day, or on the evening the car almost looks brown. I guess you can't have everything...damn-it !
They didn't it just evolves from year to year and generation to generation. This year for '08, it is called Crystal Red Metallic. As always a reformulation but a take on the same color strain.
From Road and Track:
....To this has been added a special Anniversary Red paint. In brilliant sunlight the color is, well, brilliant, thanks to the use of Xirallic paint technology, which uses flat aluminum oxide flakes to give depth and sparkle to the color. In daylight, the car literally glows like the subtlest of Candy Apple Reds. Unfortunately, under less favorable skies, the brilliance fades and turns the car to almost a muddy brown. The special paint is offset by champagne-colored wheels. This subdued combination is in stark contrast to earlier circus-inspired paint schemes of past anniversary and Indy pace-car models.
