Default Windshield A pillar cut

I have a cut in my a pillar, passenger side and I would like to repair it. Last year I saw a post of how to this. Can't find it in a search though.
It involved buying a piece of vinyl and removeing the post.
I know I can buy one from Gene but would rather save the $$ and do it myself.
Thanks.

I think I'd probably go with a new piece to get the best finish

I know how proud you are of your Vette so only the best will do

I replaced my driver's side pillar trim because an inspection guy cut it with a razor blade, and it cost about $70.

The part number for the driver side is 10434739. You might try part number 4738 for the passenger side. It list for $55 on GM Parts Direct, but they stick it to you on freight. With freight is was $68, so I just bought it directly from the local dealer.

The covering is stretched, and once it is cut, you cannot really get it to close completely. I don't think you will be satisfied with a repair.
If I were going to attempt a repair, I would take it to a trim shop and have them recover the whole piece.

I spoke to Gene Friday as my drivers side is cut. Part has been on backorder for several months with no parts in sight.

Wow! $ 55.00 -$70.00 bucks and back ordered.
I did try a vinyl repair kit but I am not pleased with the result.
That is a good idea to take it to a trim shop. I will look into it.
I wish I could find that dyi post.

I tried a vinyl repair kit and it came out bad. I ordered from GM parts direct, they had the cheapest delivered price for me. There are usually at least a couple of decent used ones on E-bay. Good luck!

Let me look through my stuff. I am pretty sure I have an extra one. If I can find it, you could have it. No charge

What year is your car? They are somewhat different post 2003.

Now, I scrape the sticker off and lay it on the dash before I go to get the car inspected. Better safe than sorry.

I always stand near and come scraping time, I just ask him to let me do the scrapping. They always oblige and I also use some Windex before he puts the new sticker on. Works for me.

Default Alternative to replacing the pillar

I covered my damaged pillar up with real carbon fiber covers. Around $50 for the pair. The covers fit snug and wrap around the edges. They actually give the car a more finished look.

PM me if you are interested the seller is not a supporting vendor.
