I LOVE MY Z06!!! I know its just a car but I have always treated my vehicles as a child!!! It cannot protect itself!! I have to do it!!
Having said that my Vette IS my daily driver!! it has 24,000 miles ( I bought it with low mileage) It will go up very fast!! I LOVE TO DRIVE THIS CAR!!!!
Why do we act like the Corvette is so fragile? I have never in my life drained my brake fluid,
because if you track your Corvette, you do need to do this often. Same for clutch fluid.
You must be new to Corvettes and sports cars in general. There are a multitude of differing uses of these cars by their various owners. When you read something that seems out of the ordinary posted on a sports car forum; don't snap to conclusion based on how you use your Corvette.
With each differing use of a vehicle, there's a completely different maintenance schedule for it.
I've only had mine since September, but I drive it every day. I love it. It's dirty right now, but I plan to wash it tomorrow night in the freezing cold and drying it in the garage.
I'm crazy about detailing and I've been told I'm pretty good at it. A couple weeks ago it was a nice day, and of course I was driving my Vette. While I was talking to someone they looked at my vette and said, "You must only drive this in the sunny weather." Little did they know a couple days before that it was filthy and I was washing leaves and worms out of the wheel wells.
The 91 Acura I had before my Vette was giving me problems the last few months I owned it (off and on). It's nice to drive something-with a warranty-and I don't worry if I'm going to have a problem.
And I seem to get everywhere 10 minutes early with this stupid grin on my face.
Actually, my C4 stays outside year round, 1 car garage here, and the C5 gets that, Im not inclined to drive my C5 in the winter, unless the streets are clean, I keep both cars as clean as I can cause I like to have them that way. No fun washing them when its 19 degrees, or less.
I have 2 cars, but I must admit the factory paint on my vette is better than most - outshines my other by a long shot when shined up. Anyone else noticed this??

I like to keep mine clean and try not to get it out when the weather is bad, but no way is the car fragile. Its been driven in snow and rain a number of times and still is going strong and still looks great. That said though, it really doesn't bother me that others may treat their car different than I do. It's theirs, they can do as they please with it.
You know, you guys are sucking me into this forum really good! I own all Toyotas except for the love of my life A 2004 comm. I have wanted a Corvette as long as I can remember and finally got one. I think if you have read these you know I was in bad car accident in March of this year(head-on in my wifes Scion) that crushed my leg. Since I store my car in a heated and dehumidified garage I share with a friend 20 miles from my house this year I only dreamed of driving it. I can't wait til next spring so I can get it back on the road and leave the dirty Toyotas (that always run no matter how bad you abuse them) in the driveway to take my still new 2004 never abused, never seen rain, never smoked in and that my wife hates the way it drives Corvette on the road again, When I am behind the wheel I get the feeling that I have made it in my own little world, Corny Huh? But that's how it is.
Why do we act like the Corvette is so fragile? I have never in my life drained my brake fluid, and treated any other car like it would melt in the rain and fall apart if it got dirty. Trust me I love this car but is the paint sub quality from paint used on other cars? Sometimes it seems that to someone who does not have a vette ...if they read some of these threads they might say...who needs it. Again LOVE MY VETTE, just an observation here.
why do people post the same thread on multiple forums ?
I switch between my truck and the Vette to go to work. Usually do most weekend travelling in the Vette...mostly shine, but rain doesn't hurt it either. Yeah, ya gotta clean 'em but it's a pretty easy car to clean. Hardest part is the wheels.
The only time I'll stop driving it this winter is when there is snow or ice and they start putting gravel on the roads. Last couple of years they've been using the de-icer instead. That helps.
I don't think I could STAND to just sit and look at it in the garage all winter!!
In my case I never expectesd to ever own a Vette. Even in my wildest dreams it would have been a coupe
To end up with a Vert was the realization of an ambition
It's a keeper so it gets that extra bit of TLC but even so, it has to go out in the rain at times. It is just that bit special but as you say, ultimately it's just a car
I think the difference here is corvette owners vs corvette enthusiasts
I think everyone on this forum would be classified as owners and enthusiasts. The definition of enthusiasm is intense enjoyment, interest, or approval.
We all enjoy our Vettes in differently. Some of us get enjoyment and satisfaction out of getting and maintaining an immaculate shine on our cars, while others of us get our enjoyment from experiencing the car's unparalleled performance each and everyday. As a matter of fact some of us do both!
Me personally, I drive mine every stinking chance I get! I've had mine 3 years now and still get excited everytime I turn the ignition and hear the rumble of the exhaust! My enthusiasm has not waned one bit!
To each his own. It's your Vette, drive or don't drive it as you please.
I drive mine every day and wash it once (sometimes twice) a week.
If it's raining.. well, then it will get wet. I just drive a little more. err.. careful (yeah that's it.. careful) when it's raining or the roads are wet. Thankfully I live in Tx where I can drive it throughout the year. I would go a little nuts if I had to keep it up and "put away" for the winter like many of the folks here need to do.
