I just did my second mod for this month. I had Flowmaster mufflers installed, and now I put on the K&N FIPK. While installing it, it shows to cut out the lower radiator for more air and clearance. I decided not to put on the front part of the cover that you cut out. I figured it would still be a big restriction. Any thoughts on this? I don't believe it can get water soaked. The car is running like a scalded dog.
The way K&N wants you to install it, would choke off cold air. The way I installed it, it gets what ever air that come through the front of the car. No restrictions. Well I guess here in sunny FLA, theres not to much cold air anyway.
I refer to it as "semi-cold" air induction. It was for this reason that I made my own, inexpensive CAI setup. It not only directs cold outside air to the filter, but also keeps temps in the engine bay down - an advantage when your engine bay contains expensive electronic components.

That's what I did, but no scoop, its all open. But the screen idea looks like it would be good to do.
The scoop will lower intake air temps, as well as cool off the engine bay. I've gone 145 MPH without any issues. For sure, the polycarbonate scoop will flex at that speed!
