Forgive me for my ignorance but I was just wondering what exactly is needed in a cam set up. I know it depends on a lot of different scenarios. This is my daily driver and I very rarely take it to the track so I just want something moderate, preferably with some low end torque. What exactly would I need (lifters, rods, etc) to install a complete package. I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.
Cam,valve springs and pushrods are the basics. Oh yea gaskets too. While you in there, might as well do a timing chain and underdrive pulley if desired. Lifters would be a smart choice if you have the money to do it. You usually only see lifters collapsing after 15000 or more miles with a large cam. Dual valve springs so you dont have floating valves or broken springs.Tune when your done for sure... Choosig a cam is like choosing a car, Listen, view, drive, ask questions about the best for what you want. Its a big decision for power, drivability, sound, etc. good luck
Id suggest doing a search on this. This has been discussed a lot.
If you want your car to drive like stock I'd stay with the stock cam. Put on some headers and cold air intake, get your throttle body ported, and a dyno tune. This will put you at around 440-450 engine HP; that is if this isn't already done.
Valve springs are a must, and hardened pushrods recommended for an aftermarket cam .
Wow..I really didn't realize how much must be done for a cam. I think I'm going to go with the G5-X2. Has anybody heard anything about these?

Yeah I have already done the basics (long tubes, ported TB, CAI) I just figured real gains would be made with a cam.
It would be good to contact an experienced tuner who has knowledge and experience with many cams and engine combinations who can thouroughly explain all the pros and cons of the different possibilities. A lot of us forum members only have the limited experience of our own cars and a few of our freinds' to go by. You are lucky, you have some good tuners in your area.
