I just wanted to give a shout out and thanks to Hogfish for the partition template. Worked like a charm and I managed to craft this for the Z. See what ya think!!
Please excuse the spots on the camera. I guess I need to clean it.
I had the 1/2" plywood already, but the felt was like $10, the spray adhesive was about $5, i added some spray on soundproof stuff for like $5, and the plexiglass window was like $.49 each for two 8 x 10 sheets. Total work was probably like 2 hours. so a grand total of $20-$23 and 2 hours labor.
I made mine from 3/4" plywood. I would think 1/4" might be too thin to hold in. I covered both sides with dynomat (peel & seal). The improvement in sound reduction was HUGE!! I pulled it down when driving to test and was shocked at how much quieter it was. I have Borla Stingers so my drone was noticable. I have the file in AutoCad if anyone needs it. I can also convert to PDF if necessary.
As Dave mentioned above I think 1/4" would be a little too thin. And also as mention the noise reduction is amazing. I took it out one day during a drive and almost couldn't hear myself think. I can actually talk on the phone and drive at the same time. I too can send the file if anyone wants it. Just PM me with your email address.

Here ya go. This one is 8.5" deep, but depending on your subwoofer airspace needs I've made them only 4.5" deep which is much less intrusive into the trunk area.
My only suggestion would be to have put some sort of batting between the board and the carpet to even the finish out. If you would have done that, you wouldn't be able to see the square glass outline. Other than that, nice job.

You did a very nice job on your partition, unfortunately I purchased one long before I knew about the DYI template. That was thoughtful of you to add the little window so the kids have a bit of light while riding in the trunk!

Okay, someone shoot me the template in PDF. I can't do the CAD stuff. I have been thinking of having the wife buy me one for Christmas. If I can build it for less than that, why not.

Luckily the felt is in 2 pieces and can come off the one side. Right now my attention is on headers. But after i get those on then I am going to take the front sheet of felt off and put a small piece of foam to fill in the sides. But right now its serving more function than form.
