Default Question about DIC codes

I know to get to the codes you hold "option" and hit "fuel" four times and then it goes through past and present codes, however the problem I am having is that it will automatically go into "manual configuration" and then it says "PCM-2 codes" but I can't find a way to tell me what the two codes are. I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong.
Thanks

Elliot

Once the IPC displays "manual diagnostics" you may select a particular module by pressing the options button to go forward or the trip button to go back.

But is there anyway for it to tell me what the code means?

You have to tell us what the codes are first.

Nope. It doesn't have a full dictionary of all the descriptions. That's the whole point. It gives you the code. You go look up the description. Google OBD-II Code and you can download all the codes/descriptions.

Hang on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Yes there is!!!! Once your in MANUAL DIAGNOSTICS MODE, use the top two buttons (TRIP , GAGES )to display the separate DTC. TRIP will make the codes scroll up and GAGES will make them scroll down. If you have 5 DTC press TRIP or GAGES to read each DTC specifically.

The only way to find out what the codes mean is to buy a Service Manual. Those one line descriptions you find on the internet are just the title from the Service Manual. Usually the technical description of what is going on and the associated diagnostic info takes 1 to 2 pages thus the one line stuff on the internet is incrementally better than useless.

Of course, much of the diagnostic info is worthless without the right scanner, software and tools.

Knowing the codes and descriptions is useful since they can be searched and compared to the experiences and problems of other people who have had cars that threw the same codes.

Post 'em.

Btw, I have the service manuals on DVD. Very handy. Although I would like a printed copy also. Don't much care for leaving my laptop sitting on the work bench with the manuals open. It works but I'd rather have hardcopy sitting on the bench.
