The C5 is definitely one beautiful piece of work. According to the book I'm reading (All Corvettes Are Red), the C5 almost never was. It originally was intended as a 1993 model. It was going to be the 40th anniversary edition. As it turned out, it became the 50th anniversary edition ('03).
It's not that the C6 is ugly, it's just different.
