HID kits are cheap. if you go with the halogen "upgrade" you'll be nothing short of disappointed.
For just some more in pocket change the HID bulb kit will put a on your face. With HIR's even (at around $60), the stark contrast to HID's is still lackluster at best........
With very little and easy modification, you can put 9005 (high beam) bulbs in your 9006 bulb socket. It is very easy and can be done with simple tools.
This is the method I chose to increase my night vision.

Good Luck[/QUOTE
do a search- ther's a writeup somewhere on how to do it- takes all of 15 minutes
like the others posted doing all of the other little tricks won't help hardly at all and wont be worth the money. The only way to fix the lighting problem is with HIDs. It takes 30 minutes to install, think of it as a safety feature if you are worried about spending 150 on it. Coming from someone that knows, I did the high beam to low beam mod, then silverstars, then HIRs, euro HLs, then HIDs with the euro HLs. I was pissed each time until I got the HIDs in and then I was overwhelmed with light!
Or the other option which is not as popular recently is to go for the Euro headlights. They have a much sharper defined beam pattern. With the harness mod you can fit 135/90 dual filament bulbs.

Thats funny I think Brian may want to edit his price on that item
Theyre about $35 a pop online. My whole kit with bulbs was only about $350 a few years ago.
I installed these Euros about 2-1/2 years ago and still the best upgrade I have done in 7 years. These put out the prefect amount of light and in just the right pattern. I paid about 300+ at PFYC with the HD harness and I bought a couple extra PIAA bulbs at the same time; however, I am still on the original bulbs and I do 90% of my driving at night.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give these a solid "10", and I don't give out 10's. Some people prefer the nausiating, headache blue tint of some HID units, but these put out a perfect daylight color temperture and the single lense metal design looks much better than the split American plastic cans. When you hit the hi-beams it looks like a plane is landing over the top of your car.
With HID kits available for under $150 delivered...
Don't waste your $$$ on anything else.
I went Silverstar then HIR and finally HID...
Thankfully eBay is there to sell my past experiments....
Look at DJ Motorsports on the supporting vendors tab.
Davis' kits are great ... I wasted my money on Silverstars and other "brighter" bulbs, they do not compare to the HID conversion. Buy them today, this is one mod that you'll enjoy!!!
