Wow I hate to hear that too, Glad to hear that you are ok, post up some pictures when you get a chance and keep us informed with the insurance, and maybe a little more detail on the events that lead up to the crash.

Sorry but that is a lame excuse (too much torque)...just man up and say you lacked the proper skills to control your car. You really have to respect the power of these cars.

DUDE! That happened to me once then to my wife a few days later. It turned out to be that the LSD wasn't working due to the corrosion on one of the gounding points. The one that affected the LSD was the one on under the hood on the fender on the drivers side.
Cleaned it up, wrapped it to seal it and the problem (along with some of the others) went away.
Single car accident I hope. Sorry to hear about your error, I hope you did not damage any property other than your own. I also wish you good luck in getting it reapired and back on the road. Live and learn. Be more carefull next time. Your insurance company won't give too many second chances as far as this type of thing goes.
I hate hearing about someone wrecking their Vette. Whatever the reason. What I hate more is a holier than thou attitude from people who have to rub it in. I'm sure the last thing this poor dude wants to read is that he lacks skills, or hes a boy playin with a mans toy or some other cliche that only tends to rub salt into the wound.
Heres a cliche for ya..."There but for the grace of God go I". It can happen to the best of us. How bout just giving the guy a pat on the back and a couple of comforting words. SHEESH!!!
Sorry for your trouble man. Good luck with the repairs.
I hope you're able to get her fixed and back on the road quickly.
I do appreciate your sharing this story. It reminds me how lucky I've been. During my early ownership, a few times, I would get behind a slow vehicle on the freeway, drop it into 2nd or 3rd (depending on the speed of traffic) to pass, and if I pressed too hard, I'd get the shaky butt & almost lose control. I quickly learned from those experiences and I'm much more careful now, but a thread like this is always a good reminder. To this point, if you have any pictures, please share them.

Me too. It happens to alot of us. The most you can do is try and get everything fixed back up again, hope your insurance doesn't go up too badly and make sure you don't do it again.
Thanks for posting this though. It is a reality check for me to not take as many risks on public roads. I know I have a close call every few years. I've been in more than 1 single car accident, but have been clean the last 12 years.
I'll be the first to admit it... I'm not a very good driver once traction is lost. No shame in it. All you can do is avoid the situation or go get some training.

It is not about "rubbing it in", it is about taking ownership for the real reason for the accident. This was apparently a one car accident with no other factors involved other then driver error. You are right it could happen to anyone but if it did at least own up to it and don't blame it on "too much torque".
Many here refer to "shaky butt", "rear coming loose" etc. I've learned one thing after years of driving A MUSTANG GT, which I believe is easier to SH*THOUSE than a 'VETTE due to the heavy nose light rear and explosive torquey motor. What I believe is "IT'S ALL IN THE TIRES". If you have a LS1 or LS6 powered, NA 'vette and good sticky tires, it will be much easier to control your car, you will feel the grip gradually lessen before things go to hell. If you can't punch your car in 2nd gear with the AH on in the rain, then something is wrong with your AH or your tires.
BTW, from experience, worn original Goodyear runflats will wreck a car faster than anything I know, ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER WHEN THE RUBBER IS HARD!
I was amazed when I first insured the 'Vette and the insurance was cheaper than my Mustang GT by $50. per year. When I asked why I was told "they are wrecked twice as much as Corvettes, by adult drivers"!
