Been waiting for your next post or posts... ...had my cluster removed and back on again(after paint) and have rotors, calipers, shocks, stabilizer bars, seat trim (plastic) all off presently...

Hi Greg, all the info I used for removing the interior pieces came right here on the forum, as mentioned in my first post.
If you're referring to the yellow donut piece on the front of the column, it's labeled as the air restraint system coil. I'm guessing it's the part of the electrical system, (inductor), that stores the charge, (up to 20 seconds or so) to deploy the bag if the battery is disconnected in an accident. That's just a guess on my part though.
If I'm not mistaken, the column lock devise is located a little further back and utilizes an actuator to push a metal pin into the column to lock the steering.
Maybe somebody will chime in that has a little more knowledge about these parts.
Here's a couple more pics that might help on the locations.
Jim
thats is the clockspring, basicly the wiring for the air bag so you can turn the steering wheel

Hey Jeff, thanks for the help...
Congrats on that great looking 'Lambo' you just purchased... ... Please put my name on the list for a ride sometime... ...
so i am guessing the black thing that goes around the yellow thing is the steering position sensor?
not to hijack but these pics are the best i have seen of the wiring under there but what is the connector that goes bad with the Active handling system?

Thanks for the comments but don't know the answer to your question.......
Maybe someone while chime in and help out...
So, sounds like it is an electrical connection for the air bag that keeps constant contact while the wheel is turned. Not a sensor. But similar to an EVO (Electronic Variable Orifice) that sends signals to the power steering pump on some GM vehicles to control variable assist steering. In other words, an electronic connection that remains constant between two contacts where one contact remains fixed and the other turns.
Sounds like this one is related to the airbag whereas an EVO is related to the power steering. Same concept, different purpose.
Thanks for taking a special pic to share. coolio fo sho.
Hey Jim, Happy Holidays!! I love waiting for the finished product. Let's see them pics! I swear I'm coming your way this Spring! Good luck with everything. My car looks like yours right now.
Jim, I have to be honest and tell you I cringe every time I see that picture but then I tell myself that it is always darkest before the dawn and everything else you have done has turned out great. I can't wait to see the end results. I thought of something just now, have you considered putting mini flames on the "Corvette" under your radio to match the flames on the "Corvette" on your rear bumper? Just a thought.....
