A little knowledge is a dangerous thing............... My mom used to say to me in reference to the above cliche', " keeping your mouth closed , folks can only assume you're stupid. Open your mouth , and they will know you're stupid."

Alot of people call it a Z05, just based on that it's easier to type and people know which generation you are talking about right away ( C(5) ).

[QUOTE=Higgs Boson;1563249298]I've been thinking about taking my Z06 badges off the sides.

Just be sure you replace them with Type R badges!

HOLD THE PRESS! They actually make a C5 Z06? Once again I'm totally confused. First the fat boys break up and then this!

I have NEVER seen/read/heard/observed anyone ever puprosfully say Z05 - if they are/do then they are NOT Vette folks, but wanna be punk a$$ lamo ricers who need their useless boosted mulitvalve selves to be schooled in the way of the PushRod..

So - if someone does feel the need to SMS-message abbreviate the name, the ONLY form I have ever seen used by everyone with an IQ above room tempreature is C5Z or C6Z.

Period.

Why would anyone do anything else?

To the topic opener, the guy who approached you was not kidding or joking or jonesing - he was one of the above reference idjits.

In the last few months I have had 2 different people tell me that my car wasn't a real Z06. Both were driving rice rockets, and so ignorant that arguing would have been useless. I don't know why it annoyes me so bad when idiots talk about cars (especially mine) like that, but it does. My license plate was the basis of both of the idiots...

It's All Just Entertainment For Us.

I Did Have A Kid Tell His Friend, Pointing To The Xlr-v, It Is Cadillac Trying To Copy A Corvette. Guess It Would Be Entertaining To Swap Badges Between The V And The Zo6. Most People Seem To Know Or Ask.

So, Again, It Is All Just Entertainment As If We Need More Than Being Lucky Enough To Own These Magnificent Vehicles.

It seems ironic that the younger generation wants to prove how superior their rice grinder is compared to the American icon, yet if given the opportunity they would gladly trade in an instant. Why?

BECAUSE IT'S A CORVETTE!!! THAT'S WHY!!!

Case in point...My daughter's 19-20 year old boyfriend who owns one of those all wheel drive Subarooos always bragged about how fast his car was and consistantly challenged me that his car could take my ZO6.

I never gave in to that stuff because if I lost, what would it matter. I still have a Vette and he only wished he did.

I've seen confused looks while at stoplights - the Z16 stripes really throw folks off.

My favorite is when I'm in the '82. It was the only year of the C3 body style with a side badge that reads "crossfire-injection"...most folks think I've added some fuel-injection motor or something. She's slow, very slow but all original...gotta love that 1982 marketing!

I have considered adding one of these to my Z06...

We should petition to have the forum moderators change our section to the "Z05" forum to reduce confusion with the "real" C6 Z06's. And if we complain to GM we could hope for a badge recall too, so they will issue the appropriate Z05 badges to us posers.

Since the new ZR1 goes for $100,000 maybe we should call ours a ZR5.

Idjit. I just sold my C5 Z06. I will miss her. Nobody ever called me a poser in one, though...
Just hope the guy that bought her enjoys the ride as much as I did. He has been suspiciously silent since he drove her away.

Happy Christmas everyone, and especially to our troops, God Bless.

or you could just carry around spare copies of the Black Book and hand them out as a $20 gift to total moron....

Hand them the book , tell them to read it from page 120 to 127 and...

as the saying goes..

I think he was messing with you. Even my younger, import-tuner-oriented friends know all about the C5Z. We are the original Corvette performance-yardstick for the Fast and Furious generation. First thing my DSM performance buds said to me upon seeing the Z06 was "I hate you..." (in a good-natured, envious kinda way) Even my die-hard Ford buds know about/like the C5Z, so I think this guy was yankin' you...
